well my mk 1 bought January 2020 now has 20,000 miles and I still expect 160miles range (say 260km) unless it’s really cold ambient. So full charge to start plus say 2 stops enroute (80%) to do 400 miles should be fine.
The car can get very confused if you leave a key in the car for long periods. That happened with my car when it was in the bodyshop after an accident. After a while the car stopped responding to the key at all.
The answer is to treat it as in real life. Eg, take the key WELL away from the car...
I still think you should reject the car as a whole as not fit for purpose. The detail of what has happened is not really your problem.
As noted above, it looks unlikely that a case could be made that the car has been immersed, so there must have been a manufacturing fault.
But for your own...
Sorry to hear this FamilyMan, an awkward situation.
It is possible there was some error with the battery packaging which meant that even going through puddles could allow water to enter the battery compartment.
So you should state in writing that the car has not gone through any unusual water...
Nightmare!
Dare I ask how it got broken?
My solution is a bit expensive....
Take the car somewhere it can remain inside until the glass arrives. Then use say £1000 of your savings to buy virtually anything that has an mot for a year, swop the insurance and use that.
It is odd how there are such extreme reactions to different cars. I drive a MG ZS gen1, a Mercedes E320 Cdi Estate, and a 4.2L Jaguar XK8 and they are all brilliant cars - but different. Each has its shortcomings and its good points, and I accept them as they are.
Maybe the car was in a shunt at the front and the repairer left the bungs off by mistake or couldn't be bothered to refit them. They obviously need to be there so yes, just get some spares and fit them....
Sounds like it is not fit for purpose so ask them to take it back.
Incidentally, a friend has a VW id3 and that car also had to go into the dealer for some days to have each cell of the battery checked. So it is not just MG's that have issues.
I can't remember - it was a long time ago. I seem to remember it was called something like Pedestrian Alert System or similar. It was quite deep in the options.
Well my gen1 definitely has one and you can turn it on and off using the touch screen - I tried turning it on and off and it makes little difference. You can find the unit in the engine bay on the offside.
See other threads about clicking steering as it could be a dangerous problem with the steering column. Do not put up with it - it must be checked out.
On the charging, it obviously has a problem and it should probably go back to the dealer.
