    MG4 in Australia

Damn! Just wondering, doesn't the Balranald caravan Park allow dogs? I guess at this time of the year they might not have had a free cabin to hire. One of the crosses we dog owners have to bear. What to do with the dogs when we go away on holidays. First World Problem :D

    MG4 in Australia

That's opposed to conventional ICE cars carrying around highly flammable hydrocarbons that regularly ignite in accidents incinerating the occupants... But we already deal with that so, all good :ROFLMAO:

    Ottocast with MG4

I don't have an Ottocast specifically. I've had three* cheap "generic" ones from Amazon/Aliexpress and they've all had the delay pre-set. *We have 2 MG4s and one of the three didn't work reliably for my wife's car and her iPhone. They've all worked fine for me with a Pixel 9 & 10 android phone.

    Ottocast with MG4

Is this a "wireless" CarPlay / Android Auto adapter? If so, find out how to connect to its management interface and ensure there's a 20-30 second "startup delay" set.

    Miles/kWh

I get 500+ km around town easily, Normal mode, regen 3 and A/C on always. Average around 15kWh per 100 km. Highway figures much more dependent on road conditions, speed etc. High quality roads with plenty of traffic going in the same direction at 110kph, around 17-18kWh per 100 km. Average...

    %, miles or both?

There's two scenarios. First is you're just driving around town not doing any particularly long journeys so all you should care about is that you have enough to get home and/or the nearest charger for your standard charge. In my case with a NMC battery that's to 80% and for the wife's LFP to...

    I hate my MG4

I'm sorry to hear that

    MG4 in Australia

I have some sympathy for the PHEVs. If they are used properly and actually charged up before use then they can significantly lower carbon emissions. Problem is all actual studies show they aren't and the real world emissions are much the same as standard hybrids. HEVs are just taking the piss.

    MG4 in Australia

In NSW when you buy an EV (or change the number plates) the plates come with the blue triangle printed on for you. I think it's demeaning for us pure BEV owners to see them on those cheap imitation EVs commonly referred to as HEV and PHEVs :p

    The Problems with PCP

Sorry for putting my nose in, but wth is this PCP you talk about? Presumably some sort of financing deal, but how is it different from a lease plan or a purchase plan? Maybe we have a similar thing in Australia but I have no idea what multiple threads are on about :ROFLMAO:

MG4 ER - Time for new tyres

I finally found the Tyre Wear Indicator (TWI symbol) markers on my tyres and seen that they aren't quite so worn as I initially thought. I've still got a couple of mm to go, maybe 2 on the fronts and 1.5 on the rears. That's at 36,000 kms after 14 months with a 4,000 km trip coming up over the...

MG4 ER - Time for new tyres

They look to be suitable and being in stock is a bonus

MG4 ER - Time for new tyres

I've been looking into replacements for my 77 too as I'm close to 40,000 KS and want to be prepared for when I do need new ones. The Turanza 6 is the latest version of the tyre and supposedly is a bit quieter again with slightly improved rolling resistance as well. Bob Jane currently shows...

    MG4 model advice please

So we have an SR and an ER (AKA Excite 51 and Essence Long Range 77 here in Australia). There's a huge difference in power between the 51 and the 77 which is absolutely as expected given 125kW / 250Nm vs 180kW / 350Nm. The Trophy LR ( Essence 64 here) has a 150kW powered motor so some may...

ABRP has taken over the Android Auto infotainment screen and I can't get it back!

Almost certainly a "22kW" capable 3 phase AC charger configured to support 11kW charging, being 16A on each phase. For a single phase charging car such as your MG4 this is indeed only 3.5kW. When we put in our "22kW" Tesla wall charger I got my son to rig it up with 32A to each phase so it...

ABRP has taken over the Android Auto infotainment screen and I can't get it back!

That's right, it doesn't and if you have it installed on your phone, launch it while driving with AA running, it then locks the screen and stops AA operating. It sucks.

ABRP has taken over the Android Auto infotainment screen and I can't get it back!

I found that ABRP screwed AA if it wasn't the paid version. I uninstalled it from the phone and I got AA back working. ABRP is a buggy piece of... The 'paid' version does work and lets you swap out of it and back into AA. I only paid for it for a while and no longer have it installed on the...

    Setting the left shortcut button

I must be blind! So I have no idea how I "checked" last time and failed to notice: - Thank you all! I still think I'll be just leaving it in "3" all the time but I might play about with it and see if A does work better on long distance cruises whilst in ACC mode.

Why do so many journalist complain about the handling

I wish I could comment from personal experience but sadly I only have the MG4 "ER 77" but even that handles as well as any car I've ever had and certainly better than most. It should be remembered that motoring journalist is a pretty low rung on the journalism ladder...
