In forty years of buying and owning new cars, I've given up on my MG3 HYBRID! Having owned it for just 18 months and 9,100 miles I part exchanged it yesterday for a BYD Dolphin Surf - this is there super mini full EV, and is a little shorter and narrower than the MG3 Hybrid, but with actually...
My car is booked in with Richmond Guildford, with a courtesy car for Monday 3rd November. They also offered a date next week with a car, but I couldn't do that day.
All that said, the light actually went out a few days later, and so far has yet to return, so I will see what happens over the next...
In colder weather the engine will run for longer, particularly if the battery is low. Usually once the battery has some energy stored, when you come to a stop the car should usually go into EV mode.
I used Richmond Guildford for my first service, and they were very efficient, and very competitive on price. If the valve can be fitted as a 'whilst you wait' job, that could be a solution to the courtesy car availability.
It's a problem with the EGR valve. I had it replaced last year, and surpise surprise!!! The warning came back on this evening.
More fun and games with the dealer next week trying get a courtesy car!
A year later after umpteen visits to my dealer resulting eventually in a replacement EGR valve. The 'Engine emissions fault' light is back on!!! I suppose i should be grateful as this time for a few seconds i had a red warning light (an unintelligible symbol), which i think I'm right in saying...
Perhaps someone who has experience of using a Smart watch tethered to their phone, and whether there are any issues when your phone is then connected to your car with a wireless dongle, thereby using Carplay/Android. Is there any interference with anything?
I was considering a smart watch...
Lidar is fitted to some Uk cars, such as LOTUS ELETRA/EMEYA ranges. The problem we have in the UK is the strict legislation surrounding autonomous functionality. For example it was only ‘relatively’ recently that on UK motorways the ‘eyes on, hands off’ feature became legal. Ford were one of the...
As you can see from this short video, the differences between the model we get and what they sell in China isn't as big as I thought.
Yes they have full length screen running across the entire dashboard, and lidar technology with higher levels of autonomy, also linked to a yoke drive by wire...
Regrettably that seems to be the case the world over. I think the margins are so small, there is no profit or benefit to be had from providing customer service.
Very interesting video, and given I too got an MG3 HYBRID (Trophy in Batteresea blue) in May '24, allow me to share my experiences, which are very similar to your observations, with even a similar mileage covered.
To start in terms of fuel economy in the 14 months I've owned the car, im...
The engine revs, as already mentioned, is to charge the battery to provide enough energy for the electric motor. It seems as though there is an incline sensor which puts the drive train into high rev mode for this purpose.
Ive had my car since May24 and suppose I'm quite 'lucky' in that it only...
Actually, for the money, particularly if you sign up to the MG owners club which gives you access to a sizeable discount, it's pretty good value in terms of the features you get.
However, it could have been a true executive EV competitor if they had offered the car in the UK with the spec...
On a very short journey yesterday of about 1.5 miles. One direction is almost entirely down hill, whilst the other is, not surprisingly (!) Uphill.
High of 80 mpg, when I got home this had dropped to 37mpg.
I'm sure the 'high rev' characteristic of the engine trying to charge the battery was a...
Whilst the IM5 compares well in equipment to say a BYD Seal, given its dimensions and positioning in China it could have gone up against the likes of the Merc EQE and BMW i5 with the equipment that's available in the Chinese market models.
Perhaps as has been said, maybe that's a leap too far...
Compared to the same model in China, MGUK are launching a stripped out version of the IM5.
The latest version of the car (identified externally by the badge mounted on the bonnet) has a full width screen along the entire dashboard, and a yoke style steering wheel, has a much higher spec...
I fitted two new Goodyear tyres to the front of my car (I couldn't source the OEM tyres following a puncture, so rather than mix tyres replaced both), maybe at motorway speeds the actual car speed is one mph higher according to a GPS device than what the speedometer shows.
