Leaf owner thinking of the MG as replacement.

    1. Soft & bouncy. Tyre noise could be better but OK overall. 2. Mine is still rattle free after 1 year / 8k miles. 3. Not too bad. Better than my Volt was. 4. No heated steering wheel. The seats are heated but not remote controlled. The Aircon can be controlled via the app. 5. Yes. 6. No. 7. Can...

    MG EV New Purchase

The Gen2 model that you are after was introduced on 71 plate but supply chain problems led to extended delivery lead times so there are relatively few around older than 72 plate.

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

Not strictly true..... The root cause was failure of a sensor which had no redundant back-up. The software worked as designed, it was the input that was faulty. The problem was compounded by Boeing not making pilots aware of the system, so the pilots had very little time to override a system...

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

The BBC is in the entertainment business, and BBC news is no exception. If you have insight into a major story you soon realise how few relevant, cross-checked facts they actually report and how much is just opinion and padding. They are better than most but today's constant demand for content...

Nathaniel Bridgend - MG Dealer Discussion, Opinions & Experiences

Nathaniel's Bridgend are friendly enough and I want to be able to recommend them, but I can't. Sales: When I was looking to buy they were knowledgeable, helpful and great at arranging test drives on the spot but the moment I left there was no communication or follow up to the questions I left...

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

Make sure you have the Sun on speed dial. I'm surprised he didn't have an EV's spontaneous combustion story as well considering his pants were clearly on fire.

Using Tesla Superchargers with my ZS EV

Well, it appears that if you are in South Wales and want this update you are out of luck. Nathaniel's (Cardiff, Cwmbran & Bridgend) and Thomas Davies (Merthyr) all deny any knowledge of it. Unless any of you wonderful people know different and have the magic words to unlock the secret knowledge....

    Zs ev Drivers seat splits

Seat fabric has a 12 month warranty. In limiting the warranty to 12 months (as an exclusion to the 7 year warranty) MG are setting the period they consider that normal wear & tear should not damage the fabric, so it cannot reasonably be excluded within the 12 months. I would argue this point...

    warrenty

Warranty and insurance are different things. If your car goes up in flames that is an insurance claim. The insurance company could theoretically sue the manufacturer if they could demonstrate negligence in the design or manufacture of the car, but if they did it wouldn't involve you. Insurance...

    Pedestrian Alert Control System

I liked the Ampera's solution: you got the main AAARGH! horn on the wheel and a polite pedestrian warning horn on the end of one of the stalks.

So do you like your MG ZS EV?

Certainly like it. I've delved into the settings enough to get all the driving "aids" set up the way I want them (mostly off). It's comfortable, easy to drive, quick enough, efficient enough, acceptable charging speed. Do I love it? No. It doesn't have the character that my old Volt did, or the...

    Door trim peeling

"Cosmetic Paint" is 36 month warranty. "Cosmetic Trim" is 12 months. Hopefully your car is still under a year old so both will still be applicable. Either way get the warranty claim in quick.

    Auto lights and wipers

Sounds like it doesn't have auto wipers then, although the MG website says it should. Is it definitely Exclusive not Excite?

    Auto lights and wipers

Wiper stalk needs to be flicked up one notch to the intermittent position for it to work on auto. The twist on the stalk changes the sensitivity.

    MGZSEV Starter switch

If it's a 2020 car it is unlikely to be fixed under warranty. "Cosmetic trim" is only 12 months.

    SR vs LR

Driving an EV is all about the instant torque rather than max power and SR & LR both have the same at 207 lb/ft. LR has a bit more weight and is listed as 22 less bhp but somehow the official acceleration figure is 0.2 sec quicker to 60. In reality you are unlikely to notice any difference...

    Latest infotainment update

More likely you just need to reboot it. Hold the physical home button down for about 20 seconds.

    Better headlights

I wouldn't get too hung up on the legality of LEDs. My Volt has passed 6 years of MOTs with "illegal" LEDs fitted. On that car the standard fit bulbs are straight up dangerous.

Was that you in your MG ZS EV?

6800 Gen2 EV's registered up to end of 2022, likely to be near double that now as deliveries have ramped up. Always nice to see another one in the wild but not much of a rarity any more. By contrast, my Volt is one of only 130 registered!

    No regen when braking

To avoid confusion - there is no additional regen from using the brake pedal. You will continue to have the full regen effect from lifting off the accelerator. How much regen that is will be determined by which KERS level you have set. In some other EV's, my 10 year old Volt included, the brake...
