    Asda free charging

I'm on a short break to Chester and he city centre hotel has 4 (expensive @ 75p) 22kW chargers. I was looking on Zapmap to see what else is around and there are some, not many though. However Electroverse shows a block of 40 not far from here and only 5 were in use earlier. I will wander along...

    Solar and house battery installation

I've looked at batteries, alomst def not going for it now, but I hadn't realised it meant you'd lose your FIT payments - presume the early Government ones? Def not going for it in that case, I get about £2k p.a. tax free!

    Asda free charging

I dunno about the cost where they have charging, but not all Asda's have it ( - my local one doesn't), so best just check your local one.

How satisfied are you with your MG EV?

You can put the unit in standby (pretty much off) by long pressing the Power button when the car is switched on.

    NP, only bants :-)

Front passenger door, inside handle fault

Wasn't talking to you :) :) However surely the unlock button in the driver door is just for central locking rather than anything to do with auto locking?

    Cold feet !

The one which always makes me smile is usually in answers to questions rather than reviews. "I haven't used it yet so I can't say". Why did they bother?

Front passenger door, inside handle fault

Or you can ask the driver to get in the habit of pressing the unlock button near his own door handle, which I'm still failing to do after over 15 months of ownership :-) But I think three of those months had passed before I even thought to look for a manual unlock!

    KERS!

Same here on the Ampera, rear brake seizure at about 50k miles due to rusting due to lack of use. The recommendation from the knowledgeable ones on the forum was to knock it into neutral when doing the "emergency" braking, to make sure the energy all went through the discs and KERS didn't steal...

    Charging at motorway service stations

The point which I think was in my mind was that the availability of m'way chargers is not news to most of us. While I'm not saying that people should not buy EVs as a result, I personally wouldn't have bought an EV had it been such an issue for me as it appears to be for others, and I have...

    Charging at motorway service stations

It's still 2023. The document you linked to earlier said it was an aim, which is not the same as a promise. It also says that "Currently, a driver is never more than 25 miles away from a rapid (50 kilowatt) chargepoint anywhere along England’s motorways and major A roads" which I found...

    Any better overnight tariffs?

Maybe it's just the regional variation. I'm in region H and on the tariff page where you put in your postcode but don't ask for a quote the only Intelligent tariff is Good news if the tariffs are falling though!

    Any better overnight tariffs?

That agrees with Octopus website too.

    Need granny cable. Which one?

The one I linked to appears to be a car dealer (Focus Car Sales), he has another one up for sale too. I suspect it's his way of making a few extra bob - sell a 2nd hand EV (like yours) but don't pass the the granny on and make an extra £100 on each sale.

    Need granny cable. Which one?

You do realise just how slow charging on a granny cable will be? A chart I have shows it will charge approx. 7 miles for each hour it's plugged in. That may be very approximate but whatever, it's going to be slow, so if you are depending on significant mileage every day you'll be wanting to find...

How to get a FRUNK in your MG5

@biffo - did you get the bonnet struts yet, if so did they work and was it easy to do?

Using Solar to charge your MG5

My modest set of panels did 311kWh in April but none of it went in the car. I can't generate enough at any one time to satisfy the car's demand so I just do that using the cheap overnight rate - which isn't free but compared to dino fuel it's very cheap!! All my spare free electricity goes into...
