Agree, but at that time I was on the FIT scheme, so was paid for 50% of electricity generated from the panels regardless of export, so it was better to heat the water. This will apply to all those still on the FIT scheme.

I always go for the tethered, saves a lot of mucking about. Mine is also in the garage near the door so I have the choice to charge outside or inside the garage

Its not really the software designers that decided this issue, it is to enable the car to conform to NCAP requirements and get 5 stars. Certainly some of the software (LKA) needs to be improved, but the overall spec is not defined by them.

With regards to over air software updates. My garage had to highlight problems with screen freezing and dropping bluetooth as reasons for the update to R59, which is then at MG's cost. Hopefully with Mg getting hit by the customers software update costs they will be encouraged to get overair...
