How do I know my ZS is a long range ?

Simple answer: if the onboard charging allows you to set at 80%, then its a long range NMC battery. If charging can only be set to 100% then its a short range LFP battery.

ZS EV LR occasionally charging to 90% when set to 80%

Odd, eh? Firstly, can only suggest some kind of user error or possible conflicts in scheduling SW (eg, between the car, or wall box, or in the UK perhaps power provider?). So worth checking all of that. Personally have never seen this particular issue - when it says 80%, that's exactly what you...

ZS EV LR occasionally charging to 90% when set to 80%

That is hardly the reason. IMO SAIC /MG especially do a fine job of building to a price point & the gen 2 ZS EV (vs the gen 1) is an excellent example of this. Otherwise, if the Chinese are so bad at this, one wonders why VW (who can't get their software together) have for this reason outsourced...

    Balance Charging....AGAIN!!!!

Can see why this thread has been named 'AGAIN'... very old story, eh? Battery balancing or equalisation is required on any EV with NMC battery chemistry; a 'slow charger' is needed for this and is acheived by any AC charger, not just a 'granny' (that would indeed drive you nuts given the...

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

Yes, and likely a direct result of the horseshit information published, re-published & 'developed' on social media. Like this story here, some better reserach might be required vs. just continuing to re-publish the stupid story .... There's another one getting around just recently (I will not...

Hi can anybody tell me why my MGEV4 now only reaches 186 miles when fully charged when it was 215 miles. Its only 2 months old

Re-setting the trip meters ceratinly makes a difference, otherwise the 'guessometer' is a bit mad(at least in terms of 'indication', less so in terms of actual ks driven). So happens, this last time I charged to 100% I forgot to reset the trip meters as I usually do - ZS EV LFP. When I checked...

MG Australia capped price service costs

Curious, given the now two year service interval in Australia: What do expereinced owners do regularly in terms of 'self-servicing' their ZS EVs? Checking fluids I guess, which ones; tyres obviously. Any good tips?

BYD Dolphin: reports of battery fires in China

This kind of 'reporting' and disinformation needs to be called out & remains one of the most dangerous trends in contemporary times. And so what proof does this 'influencer' actually have, other than 'publishing' sensationalisation claims? Appears atypical Amercian anti-China rhetoric, racist...

Exactly right, really you need to remove one of them and then you can see/feel quite easily.

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

By god I am sick of this story ... just goes to show how disinformation spreads like wildfire on social media & actually seems to carry more weight than the truth. Just like Brexit; just like Trump; just like the recent Australian referendum.

    Rusted behind hub caps

PS & FWIW: NB that more often than not on the ZS EV gen 2, the wheel covers are fitted incorrectly & this makes the air valves hard to access & indeed, easily top up air at the petrol station. The fix is to remove each wheel cover (pull from both sides at the centre of the wheel) then rotate...

Leaf owner thinking of the MG as replacement.

Agreed, great car, I've had two of them - the gen 1 and now the gen 2 'facelift'. I have to say that the gen 2 is a vast improvement over the first one - better sound proofing, suspension, motor /torque, infotainment & software. I was surprised just how refined the car is now given some very...

New version of iSmart on Apple is in km

Yes, odd. There are only THREE countries in the world that are still officially using the imperial system: The US, MYANMAR, and LIBERIA. However, in Myanmar and Liberia, the metric system has been used parallel with imperial, and both countries are on their way to completely switch on using only...

    MG4 LFP/NMC batteries

There's really nothing new here re. LFP vs NMC battery chemistry at the time of writing - no doubt, this will heat up a lot in the next few years as we see newer batteries come onto the market with faster charging times & longer ranges. For now, most EV maufacturers uses this same duality in...

    Sat nav frozen

Dead reckoning is required where GPS cannot work, eg, in tunnels etc. & so is set to 'on' by default. This issue seems to be a problem in the UK for some reason & not a problem here in Australia, in my experience. There are also other ways around this aside from just turning it off, such as...

iPhone 15 Pro Max not connecting/charging

    Home charger recommendations

I found that a three pin plug charging took way too long and made prep a liitle unpredicable, YMMV. 15 amp if available may help a little… I ended up with a 7kw Wallbox Pulsar Plus & have used this for about three years now, no issues & has its own scheduling app if needed. In all, makes...

Best cable to use for carplay

Totally agree, I use a short braided cable, usbc to usba for android or lightning to usba. Zero issues.
