    MG iSMART issues

Thanks, but I don’t see this a related to binding, that can be unbound in the car settings. This is an email account login problem.

    MG iSmart App

My iSmart for Android set up & bound quickly & easily on 2022 ZS EV Essence. Was all good for a few days, then suddenly: Would not run without needing a password again, then wouldn’t accept the original pw (which hadn’t changed). Then tried to ask for a new password, but this needed the...

Charging battery to full on regular basis or allow it to go down to 5 percent before topping up

Yes we heard you the 1st, 2nd & 3rd times. I dont see anyone 'fretting' here so much, but rather an interesting & collegial discussion now based on a little empirical evidence and/or external expert opinion & less FaceBook-styled shouting. Has been nice to meet a few new ideas.

Charging battery to full on regular basis or allow it to go down to 5 percent before topping up

Exactly, I agree - but they dont 'enforce' it like MGs sw.

    iSMART only work in UK?

Well, it’s on a phone plan with its sim. Uses Vodaphone in Australia & so in travelling to different countries would need to be able to change networks. Ask MG, one would have thought this be an obvious thing in the UK & the EU with various jurisdictions being so close to each other.

Charging battery to full on regular basis or allow it to go down to 5 percent before topping up

Yes, the various Tesla charging articles indicate that Tesla is more interested in the customer satisfaction side of the equation & so more accurate SOC with a 100% charge for LFP makes better sense than worrying too much about battery degredation on a chemistry which allows far more cycles than...

Charging battery to full on regular basis or allow it to go down to 5 percent before topping up

All of which depends entirely on the battery chemistry & am surprised that this is not mentioned anywhere here. Just like the difference between (say) the long range and the short range Teslas, the MG short range models use LFP battery chemistry whereas the long range (or Mk1 MG ZS EV) use NMC...

    MG compatibility with Android Auto

This thread should be more accurately titled 'Waze compatibility with Android Auto'; My Samsung ZFlip has been working perfectly for some years now, both on a Mk1 & now a Mk2 ZS EV.

    Setting target battery level issue

Yes, annoying, contradictory and vague - MG and manual appear none the wiser. Here’s what I’ve been able to glean after having owned a Mk1 for two years, and now the Mk2 facelift SR: Yes, the charging control on the SR & the LR are different; so are the battery chemistries. The LR has the same...

    Battery equalisation

So how to equalize a 2022 Mk2 ZS EV short range with LFP battery? The manual harps on about the need to do this but on the Mk2 there seems to be no way to visually or instrumentally verify this.

ZS EV just stops - dangerous

Yep, I keep one in the glove box. BWT this is issue is certainly not confined to MG EVs & haave read this on fora including for Volvo, BYD and even one hilarious 'teccy' story from a Tesla owner. https://thedriven.io/2023/05/11/how-a-chance-encounter-with-tesla-employees-saved-my-9-hour-road-trip/

    MG ZS battery percentage

I've owned both the Mk1 & the Mk2: in the case of the MK1, it always shows remaining range in ks (miles, I assume in the UK). Never really had a problem with that & you quickly get to know what (say) 20% might mean, plus the car winges at you for a charge when it knows the batery is low, usually...

It's freezing and the heater wouldn't work

Indeed, the whole HVAC system is decidedly odd in ECO mode; staying in NORMAL mode sorts tthis out - both for heating and for cooling. Still, I mostly use only heated seats for the cold, not the leaast of which is because there is zero battery drain & seats work off the 12v battery.

    ZS EV SR SOH

Am sighty confused about this thread: it is not clear which year model he is referring to. the OP 'seems' to be referring to a MK2 facelift MY22 or beyond because he mentions 'short range' (vs long range) & not the MK1 MY21 or before where there one only one 'range' [?] I have owned both models...
