8 kW Solar + 11 kWh Battery + Ohme EV + Immersion Heater + Intelligent Octopus

join Oil-Club.co.uk , this week it was 55p in my area and 51p for my elderly mother (Cumbria). Having said that, my local family supplier is normally within 5p / litre, so just mainly use them to support the community.

    MG4 calibration advice

All the radar does is to mearsure the distance, the normal procedure to recalibrate is to make sure that its seated in its housing (i.e. pointing straight), and then parking on flat ground and placing the car infront of a wall (its normally 1200mm infront of the radar). You need specific...

My Alloy Undertray Reinforcement for MG4

I'm just doing something similar (albeit not as neat) with a 6mm thick steel strip - the bolts shown here need shortened.

YouTube comment about MG4 battery management, LFP vs NMC

Updated plot (LFP 51kWh battery): Read with car scanner, and plotted in excel, I suspect that the car has now done approx 300 equivalent full charge cycles (I installed a home battery system at the same time as getting the car ~ 2 years ago, and thats what my oldest pylontech batteries are...

Intelligent Octopus Go works like a dream.

Just like this evening - if you plug it in with an abundance of power (e.g. agile was negative, discount on electroverse ) it will just charge as soon as you plug in (to the nearest 15 mins)

    Archived MG4

Hi Stuart, I have a local black SE (from Paul Rigby), that is not currently for sale, in daily use, and near perfect, so feel free to use myself as a backup, but 15K is a realistic price.

    What electric company to use?

One frustrating thing with Octopus (and EoN), is that if you have a 2 tier tarrif (i.e. peak & off peak), is that it only uses a single meter rate, so its no real time metering (or showing correctly on your home display), where as EDF use a dual meter rate between day and night, which shows the...

    Repairing a front-end damaged MG4?

Physically the pyro fuse should be reasonably straightforward, I think where you will come unstuck will the the lack of access to the diagnostic tools / knowhow. If it was a VAG - I'd go for it, as you can get access to ODIS / vagcom VCDS etc., and people know who to use them and can do it...

    Charging door open by itself?

Mines an early model, as long as I have the seat belt on, I can engage drive (and move off) with the flap open, even the drivers door - I've just tried it to check

    Can anyone (remote window close)

I noticed this also, strange that you cant do this from the key fob, as its been pretty standard on all cars I've had for years. Another quirk on the MG4 I've noticed (when using the buttons on the drivers door card), is that I have one touch closing up and down on the drivers window, but only...

    Charging door open by itself?

It wont be covered by warranty, it was probably just a bit of grit / debris, open and close it a few times, and see if it happens again in the future. To be honest if she "doesn't even know how to charge the car", then i suspect that the charge door was left fully open when it was last charged...

    Windshield Replacement ADAS Calibration

I dont know the specifics of MG / SAIC, but had this headache on my last car, until the 2nd windscreen company explained how they do it. There are 3 types of calibration, 1) dont do one as such (just check the ECU / fault codes on the dash), 2) A static one (which entails, pointing the car at a...

    Wallbox - PULSAR PLUS issue

very strange - can't help much (as mine has always worked for nearly 24 months, home work etc.), albeit not a wallbox), sounds like a software incompatability if it works elsewhere. Call dealer / MG assist?

Transporting e-bike over 50 kg on the tow bar

I've a 3 bike carrier from Thule, never had an issue (albeit not on the MG4) in the past 15 years, just give the bolt an extra tighten on the hitch (maybe test it with your self weight before you set off)

Mg4 trophy refused to drive off

On mine (ver 1 : SE, 2022), it seems to be the seat belt that dictates whether you can select drive.

    SOC Health 40%-80%

Noted - I suspect your SOH will be perfect, personally never used the MG4 to run the charging of the car, always let the charger be in control.

    SOC Health 40%-80%

I was thinking the same! @David1978 , are we worried about SOC or SOH ? (if its a charge to % , then you can change this on the display - green slider on car or app? )
