    Disappointing winter range

Agree : Its exactly like my old Tiguan Sport, drive normally at 55mph in cruise control on a motorway you get 50mpg, but drive like its stolen / up hills (or my wife driving🤣) and you get30 mpg.

    Disappointing winter range

All real - just managing expectations, MG4 SE, 30,000 miles todate : In winter e.g. yesterday I went out early morning 1/2 hr drive, 10 miles or so the consumption was 6kw, made up of 3kw for moving the car, and the other 3kw was for ancillary bits/defrosting before setting off. Temp was -2...

    Disappointing winter range

... this is the worst case scenario at 2miles/kWh. Today for example on a normal 50 mile trip in zero temp conditions was 2mi/kWh. My LFP battery is down to 93% SOH = fine given the 30k miles. In 2 more years the car will have paid for itself = :):)

Recommendation for MG4 EV servicing in Devon

If LKA is a problem, just switch on towing mode - and all your problems will go away (aside from reversing) - EV's dont need servicing per se, but if you are wanting a MG warranty, then just go to the dealer, its around £10-£15 / month on a service plan (which includes full UK breakdown relay) -...

    Disappointing winter range

Sub zero temps - you need to be realistic on a non heat pump EV. Accept 100 miles on the SE & 150 miles on the LR.

    Tyre advice

I've found that the Autel MX sysyem (£10/corner?) works well (fully programmble), just bought 4 X Ali express / Temu items for around £3 / unit - not checked them yet with the Autel.

EV insured in the event of a claim

Just switch on towing mode (it remembers it every time), and all your LKA issues will go away, cruise still works (in fact almost everything)- just watch out reversing!

    Body repairs

Most insurance companies offer a "uninsured driver promise" which is run by MIB (Motor Insurers' Bureau), plus if you have gap insurance you should get back the full value of the car. Best thing to do is leave it with your insurer, they may just get you another new car if one is in stock.

Thinking of a new MG4 XPower or Trophy...

Maybe I'm getting too old, dont really change cars too often, but had an Ford XR2 & Puma, VW Golf GT / Tiguan 170, but do find the MG4 more lively than all of them 🤷‍♀️ Maybe things are different in Aus. compared to the UK, yes an EV is perfect for 200 miles / day and charge at home, but...

Thinking of a new MG4 XPower or Trophy...

    1) only get an EV, if you have a driveway to charge at home. 2) only consider renewables if you plan to stay in your current home for 5 years+ 3) if you do get an EV/Batteries/Solar/ASHP - then yes you can save £2-£3k a year, but your payback will be around 5 years. 4) would I do it again? = Yes...

    TPMS on new alloy wheels

... ... thats not a TPMS coding problem (if you're getting a reading in the car then they are working), its telling you that the front tyres have not enough air in them.

You CAN road trip an SE SR

I've noted the same in recent months, I've found that Eurocentral Glasgow is slow charging, particularly if a Tesla driver parks next to me. Keep up the great work with updates Morag (y) (y)

    TPMS on new alloy wheels

I have an Autel Ts501 , as per a few months ago (when I last updated the software), it still doesn't work via the odb port. The best way is to use the clone function via the TS501 on programable TPMS sensors which are around £5-10 on ali express (clones? - they look and operate the same as the...

This MG4 is an uncomfortable place to be

... a bit of context in a UK winter (Nov 24). Oil per month is around £200+l (currently it's cheap at 55p/litre), we do live in a grade F cottage. Using a ASHP (6kW Daikin), total bill for house, car etc was £106 (🐙)for Nov 24 = very happy (with no oil usage).

... (y) : that ties in with my Energy Consumption Since Last charge : i.e. if I charge to 100%, and then take a reading at 50% charge, I normally get 24kWh.
