Lane Assist Trying To Kill Me!

If its any help I have a facelift MG5 as a company car and before that a Pre-Facelift 5. I also have a HS on loan whilst the stupid tyre pressure sensors are fixed and all three cars have pretty good LKA even on country lanes. Assuming the same person programmed the new MG4 software ;P

The Ultimate MG5 "Real World" Energy Consumption Thread

Are you guys driving with the heating off? I set the cruise control to 65mph and got 2.8 m/kwh. M11 from Stansted to Cambridge North so a bit uphill on one way. I had the Missus and my son in the car so was very much behaving myself. It was wet and dark but I can't see wipers and LED lights...

The Ultimate MG5 "Real World" Energy Consumption Thread

I got 2.3 mi/kWh on Saturday when I checked. I had the wife the toddler and two different buggies in the car plus the heaters going. My GOM is 160 miles on 100%.

EV opposition in the media is ramping up

Could be heat-related, better more expensive motors could be treated to resist heat more, reduces wear and tear e.g. especially as they have that 7 year warranty. Also why buy the sporty version if the normal ones are super quick!

EV opposition in the media is ramping up

I would have tested the GTi but my local VW dealer never calls back so they lost a customer. I did test the Leon Cupra it might have been faster but it didn't put a smile on my face like the ST. All personal choice! Happy Birthday for yesterday!

EV opposition in the media is ramping up

Quite agree, the EVs don't have the legs to keep up the whole time, my ST had a top whack oof 140 according to the book :) the 5 is only 115mph. I also don't get the extreme torque steer in the 5 that the ST did. Although the 5 is front wheel drive and the traction control leaves something to...

EV opposition in the media is ramping up

Very much this! I can do the 5 hour journey up to my Dads (slow roads rather than distance) on the Yorkshire coast without swapping with the wife. We have an hours break somewhere between Newark and Grantham so the boy can stretch his legs (he gets very vocal if we leave him in the car for too...

    Tesla Supercharger Issue MG5 LR

I used to get 75kW on the screen for my old MG5 LR. I may have got higher but I rarely sit and watch the charger! Someone did show me a photo ,on here, of their PFL drawing 100kW during a charge.

Lane Assist Trying To Kill Me!

Adaptive Cruise Control - automatically matches the speed of the car ahead of you. Traffic Jam Assist - As above but at slow speeds, generally requires you to press the accelerator or cruise control button to start from a standstill. Autonomus Emergency Braking - Beeps at you then jams the...

EV opposition in the media is ramping up

Definitely. I bought some LED strip lights and the transformer came with a weird molded plug with no fuse. I thought it was weird, but plugged it in anyway and the spark and bang it made was quite impressive. Luckily I know where my consumer unit was.

    MG5 Dummy Handler!

That's a good feature, in my old Seat Leon I had the key in my bag coming off of the train, chucked my coat and bag on the back seat, shut the door and it immediately locked. Even though it was a keyless entry I couldn't unlock it. Seat were bugger all use on the phone so I had to call my wife...

Android Auto not picking up my voice - Facelift 5.

The action button on the steering wheel or shouting OK Google, both of which worked fine until last week. Update: My car has been with Glyn Hopkins in Chelmsford for 9 days so far. Upside is they gave me a HS as a courtesy car. Its quite nice, it has dual climate control, a massive...

Android Auto not picking up my voice - Facelift 5.

That's what I thought, but something definitely hears me say OK google and brings up the speech recognitions pop up. I'm certain that this is an android problem as the forums seem to have so many complaints of this. I tried resetting the cache and even the storage, so a soft reset to...

EV opposition in the media is ramping up

Having a toddler also means I have to stop every two-three hours or someone in the back gets shouty! I do find my 5 to be an easier drive when I go up to Dads in East Yorks but I wonder how much of that is down to having the lane keep, ACM and no gears. Would a petrol car with an auto box and...

Android Auto not picking up my voice - Facelift 5.

Sweet! Thanks very much for the tip! Latest update. I tried using voice control again last night. I definitely had a signal but no recognition of it hearing me on the screen, then it shut off. I tried OK Google to see if my phone could hear me and the car blipped and the speech recognition...

    Air Source Heat Pump?

When my uncle was renovating his house, he went with electric on a large (60m² ish) floor even though I'd spoken to a screed company and got a spec for repairing the existing flooring once the pipe runs had been cut. He soon found out that the electric floor was expensive to run and wound up...

    Air Source Heat Pump?

I think it depends on how they are installed and designed. If lots of people are wanting them inevitably some will contract a cowboy or a well meaning plumber without the correct training and skillset and wind up with bad results. Just like any wet heating system or any building works thinking...

Android Auto not picking up my voice - Facelift 5.

I had some occasional connection issues with my old PFL and SEAT Leon but not regularly. Trouble is in the FL I think turning the car off and on again is the only way to reboot the entertainment.

    Air Source Heat Pump?

MVHR is something I would have added. No point sealing your house when you need air to breathe!
