Testing the range of the Trophy MG4

After 10 years driving ev the charge speed is the biggest improvement on a longer trip than longer range. On regular long trips I stop for a toilet/refreshment break at about 3 hours driving time (175 miles in good traffic), plug in and get 142kw in my trophy which puts me back up to 80% with in...

Testing the range of the Trophy MG4

Gave the MG4 Trophy a range test. Did a round trip to Stansted Airport and achieved 4.4 miles per kWh outward and 4.2 return, left home with 100%, arrived at Stansted (108 miles) with 63% 164 miles on the GOM, got back home with 18% and 48 miles remaining. 218 miles on the A3, M25, M11 so thats...

    MG4 Trophy Speaker Upgrade

Glad it was helpful ?. Yeah the tweeter upgrade is a really big improvement, vocals and percussion (especially in jazz and classical) are up to a different level even at low volumes. The sound damping is well worth it too as vastly improves the low and mids keeping notes tight and accurate. Mine...

    Boot Liners & Mats

Sort of, there is a difference but I’ve always had a memory foam dog bed, fluffy vet rug (like a sheep skin rug) and a big 45kg hairy German Shepherd in the boot damping the sound, but yes it dose help.

    MG4 Trophy Speaker Upgrade

Yes but in a car water creeps in from the windows and there are drain holes at the base of the door and the door card. The wool type will also be too thick and move around getting in the way of the door window mechanism and won’t help much with sound dampening. I use the closed cell foam...

    MG4 Trophy Speaker Upgrade

As above reply it’s not a good idea to use mineral wool as it gets damp from condensation in the door void. Use closed cell foam as it’s thin so won’t interfere with the window mechanism and won’t soak up moisture. It’s also better for sound dampening

    Boot Liners & Mats

5 weeks but I ordered during the new year holidays which may have delayed things.

Maybe ask them to put half of their shoe/clothes collection on eBay to help fund a hobby that benefits both of you ??

Road Trip From Petersfield (near the South Coast) to Manchester

Hi, glad it was useful. Yes a 10mm socket with extender to reach the bolts. It’s a small change but really makes the space more usable for the dog.

Road Trip From Petersfield (near the South Coast) to Manchester

My German Shepherd is big, 42kg, 75cm floor to shoulder, 95cm to his head and 130cm nose to the base of his tail. Floor is in the lowest position and he can sit up ok if a bit stooped and I removed the floor level change hump at the back (not necessary but gives a flatter space with no lumps)...

Road Trip From Petersfield (near the South Coast) to Manchester

Return journey was similar at 3.8 mi per kWh, saw 4 miles per kWh on the last 50 miles. Started with 96%. No rain, dry but colder at 6-8°c. Stopped for a toilet break at 176 miles with 28% and 68 miles on the GOM, had another 58 miles to home so topped up on a BP Pulse rapid that was...

    Some MG4 Upgrades

Yeah, I did a review and inc some photos ? Me too, always clean all round the boot and door frames too, a habit from owning classic vehicles. I don‘t spray or rinse with a hose either to avoid water getting in behind panels etc.

    MG4 vs ZS

I’m liking the drive and handling of the MG4, nice to be back in a rear wheel drive car that has enough feel to kick the back end out without feeling dangerous. I had a ZS ev and an MG5 previously too so comparing all three the MG4 is definitely way ahead in many areas, the skateboard ev...

    Some MG4 Upgrades

Personally I wouldn’t bother fitting one if it wasn’t already on mine, if the dealership offer to fit it for free and you prefer the look then may as well. I always used install sound deadening sheets on the underside of the bonnet of my ice cars and vans when doing sound system upgrades to help...

    Some MG4 Upgrades

Glad the video was helpful. The bonnet sound deadening isn’t really necessary with electric vehicles, it will help to dampen some vibration but probably not noticeable in the cabin, I was surprised that it was there on mine. The issues people are having seem to be down to quality control from...

Road Trip From Petersfield (near the South Coast) to Manchester

Stafford North on the M6 is a handy stop, 3 GridServe rapids and 4 150kw BP Pulse. The BP rapids are better and are tucked behind the petrol station so often get missed. BP Stafford North MSA Unnamed Road, Stone ST15 0EU, UK BP Stafford North MSA | PlugShare

    Lane Keep Assist feature

The LKA and auto pilot was really good in my ZS ev, very smooth and reassuring, shame they changed from that system for the 4. Hopefully it will improve with software updates and data collection

    Some MG4 Upgrades

It takes a good hard pull to get the flexi strap out, the bonnet liner fasters are replaced by the ball joint your fitting for the strut so not needed (it’s held in place by the new ball joint fitting).
