The Tesla charge point is an excellent one to use with the MG5 facelift - it'll work fine and you can use the charging features on the car to control it.
On a marginally related subject, you may want to review the installation of the Tesla charge point as it may not meet current protection...
I believe that the green stripe on the number plate is counterproductive. Ignorant non-EV owners wrongly believe that it signifies some benefits (in addition to zero VED and no fuel duty on electricity) and that angers them. Having driven EV specific cars (LEAF, i3 and Tesla) without...
They obviously had no intention of trying to charge parking in the wrong way around for their car. Entitled eejits.
That has to be the way forwards, but I bet it's not enforced.
Agreed. Don't leave it at that level as it will damage it. You need to leave the car switched on for at least an hour. Ideally lock it using the emergency key and keep the other key well away from the car and it'll be safe.
Agreed, but there's also the loss of convenience factor in time shifting usage etc meaning that you should look at a higher % to make it worth doing.
Note that I find Intelligent Octopus much better despite the lack of integration of the MG as it is cheaper and at least 6 hours off-peak which...
Interesting that the car has got through the handshake routine with the Granny charger but apparently is unable to set the contactors for the HV battery.
Yes, but if 50% or more of your electricity usage is off-peak (both EV charging and anything else that you can time shift such as washing, heating, etc.) then it more than offsets the higher cost. It suits me but not everyone.
Continental EcoContact 6. They are not EV specific but have a sufficient weight rating for the porkiness of the car and relatively low rolling resistance at the expense of outright grip.
Blimey, when was it delivered - mid December presumably? Ours was manufactured 26/7/22 and was delivered 30/9/22. So it appears that they are delivering older stock now than at launch.
I had hoped that they would be delivering models with improvements built in.
It doesn't. Nothing is lost by disconnecting the 12v even for an extended period provided you were not updating any code at the time. £35+VAT for fitting is extreme. Frankly Halfords would be cheaper if you don't want to DIY, and they'll come to you as will both the AA and RAC.
The problem with using the pre-granny charger extension lead mentioned above is that whilst they are probably capable of withstanding 10A continuous current for extended periods they rarely, if ever, have a protective temperature sensor in the plug to protect against the socket that they are...
Not with a standard Type 2 cable as the PP pin on the male end is deliberately short to prevent this. This is intended as the joint from male to female is not waterproof unless held in the correct orientation (female down) which cannot be guaranteed.
It is possible to buy special leads that...
I think that you should name and shame praise the dealer concerned. They have done the right thing and will be out of pocket despite the fact that the real villains are MG UK (SAIC owned) and SAIC themselves.
Like you I believe that the MG4 could be a great car but there are just too many...
