    Dashcam install

Good question. I didn't take a photo of the fuse box, but I found an empty slot at the top row, second in from the left, if I remember. It was one of the larger 3-pin slots, and I managed to get a wire into the live terminal. I have a 3A in-line fuse in my wiring, just to protect from shorts. As...

580 HP Well it’s coming if you want it soon.

    I don't know - our Trophy (200bhp) works really well! :)

    Car or computer

This is a very thought-provoking thread, with an intellegent premise. My take on the thoughts so far are: 1. I have two MacBook Pros which are 13 years old and are as great as the day they were born, plus one even older generic laptop running linux. So it is possible for even domestic...

580 HP Well it’s coming if you want it soon.

I'm really hoping there'll be more info by the time of the UK fully charged show live, as our Kia e-Niro comes up for the end of it's PCP later in the year, so we could become a two-MG4 family! ;-) - Love the Electric Viking BTW. Whatch his stuff religiously. Would be great to bump into him at...

    Dashcam install

I finally found the fusebox on our Trophy - didn't realise it was so high up in the dash (I assumed it would be low down, behind an easy-to-remove panel, like every other car I've owned :) ). I did have trouble finding a switched 12v, as the one pointed out previously on this thread seemed on my...

    Should we be worried? ?

I'll add our experince to the "positive" group. We've had our MG4 since mid-December and it's an excellent car! Yes, it has software issues, but so has my Kia e-Niro, and other cars I've owned or driven (except my son-in-law's Tesla Model 3, which is truly excellent!). So, don't let the...

    Software improvement opportunities!

Thanks all, for your inciteful comments so far. My feeling re. weak regen is that MG offers 3 settings (the fourth seems to be a combination of the first three) so if a weaker regen is desired, it's there in the options. The problem is there's not even an option for strong regen (as I mentioned...

    Software improvement opportunities!

We've had our MG4 now for two months, and it's a brilliant car! However, there are some deficiencies in the software that could really improve the car still further, and make it truly world-beating. Here's my top 3 list - feel free to add your most important issues. Hopefully MG will check this...

Where the heck is the cabin fuse box!!!

Hi all, I'm fitting a dashcam to my wife's MG4 and have seen the excellent post and thread on this forum, which says the cabin fusebox is "by the driver's knee". I've removed the panel under the steering wheel, checked behind the door pillar cover, lifted the panel next to the driver's left...

    Dashcam install

That's really interesting - thanks for posting. I didn't know you could get a "built-in" dashcam for the MG4.

Does the MG4 come with a heat pump?

Regarding heat pumps in the UK, I've been driving a Kia e-Niro for 2 1/2 years now, and had another one before this one (my wife drives the MG4). My first e-Niro didn't have a heat pump, and the current one does. Otherwise they were basically the same (4 level vs 4+ level trim). I noticed no...

    Dashcam install

Ah, thanks a lot for posting, as I'm about to install my dashcam in our new trophy (like you, taken from our traded in ZS EV). Regarding location of the cabin fuse box, I've read "by the driver's knee" before, but which knee - left or right? I don't want to go disturbing the internal trim...

    Car Scheduled charging software bug

These are really helpful replies - thanks everyone who's replied so far. I like tigger's suggestion of a deputation to SAIC. This issue won't cause us to return the car (we actually love the car, despite these software teething issues), but they're still advertising scheduled charging as a...

    Car Scheduled charging software bug

Our MG4 Trophy appears to have a software bug in the in-car scheduled charging settings. Even when the times are set to an overnight period and scheduled charging enabled, the car starts charging as soon as power is applied (via the wall charger being enabled for continuous charging). Using the...

How many MG4 owners are new to the world of EVs?

We're one of the many original ZS EV owners who changed out when the 3yr PCP came up. Perfect timing, as the MG4 came out just at the right time :-). We also have a Kia e-Niro 4+, which as been our long-range car for the last couple of years. Now both cars have pretty much identical range, so my...

    Slower than expected charging speed

Thanks for all the data points, folks. I did see my car pulling 6.8kw from our home charger, which by the look of the above reports is about as high as I can expect from a single phase type 2. I haven't tried it on a 3phase type2 yet, but I won't expect more than 10kw. Good to know! :)

    Charging Cables

Yes, get a three phase 32A Type2 cable for the MG4 - 5m is useful. I have a 3m and it's fine for most chargers but occasionally you need longer. So go for 5m if you can. Our original ZS EV from 3 years ago also didn't come with a Type2 cable (just the granny charger) so this is not new for MG. I...

    Windscreen Washers

I can confirm that our wipers (trophy) are NOT rain sensing, but normal intermittant. This seems at odds with the manual, which shows "auto" as the first setting on the wiper stalk. Our stalk is marked "int" not "auto". Bit of a surprise, as it seems the manual is misleading! Haven't tested...

Does anyone actually use regen mode 1?

So you switch between driving modes repeatedly while driving?? Sounds like a lot of unnecessary hard work. Surely it's easier to do that with your foot!

MG4 Should I get one? What’s the consensus from owners and those waiting?

Completely agree with the above. MG4 if on a budget; Tesla if you can possibly reach to it. Nothing else in the UK market makes sense when these two cars exist (and I drive a first gen Kia e-Niro - second gen is far too expensive). Forums are for owners to discuss issues and niggles, so you'll...
