Old tech, less parasitic drain and (I believe) better quality batteries than the "fit for purpose" rubbish they churn out now. Similarly SWMBO had a 2006 Prius until 2021 with only one 12V change.

I totally agree, updating for the sake of it just gets you out of the frying pan into the fire. In some cases the newer updates just brought new problems with them, the latest is not always the best.

I would say the top priority is to check if the LKA update has been done, the rest is gravy.

Mine just had the country code set to somewhere in Europe, Poland IIRC. I set it to the MG Assist number easily enough.

You can, but they only insure it for the market value at the time you take out the insurance. So if you rely on your car insurance policy giving you new for old for the first year then take out GAP for the second year the Gap will cover the cost of a 1 year old car.

FWIW, the car will automatically put the parking brake on when you leave the seat.
