Impact of KERS on tyre wear

The quality of that data is not good enough I'm afraid to get to the level of accuracy to be definitive. One issue is that there is a delay between the data actually occuring and the data being displayed which makes it hard to correlate it with other inputs. The car system is also brake by wire...

Impact of KERS on tyre wear

That is a good starting point and obviously works well for you. I tried it initially and didn't like it - I just use the default 2 - but that is my preference and nothing to do whether it was more efficient or not. However driver comfort makes for more efficient driving so while it might not...

Impact of KERS on tyre wear

I think we are in violent agreement in that the amount of energy is the same, but the rate that it is lost changes depending on the time it takes to do it. The example assumes around 1G braking which is about the limit for most road car tyres. Double the time and you still get large charging...

Impact of KERS on tyre wear

First thing is that KERS is not 100% efficient. Only about 90% (it can vary but is in that ball park) end up in the battery for reuse. When that energy is reused to accelerate the car, there is a similar 90% loss so the actual amount of energy that is recovered and reused is 81% for the store...

Free Tesla supercharger update from MG dealerships

Depends on whether the fact that several owners independently reported the same thing, and it is therefore reasonable to believe it as reliable. Reader's choice.

Take it or leave it. That was what was reported in the forums.

Free Tesla supercharger update from MG dealerships

Its in the Time line FAQ. Reported in Dec 2022 by an MG5 owner to the forum. A different member had a similar reply later which he reported back in April 2023. Again in the timeline.

Free Tesla supercharger update from MG dealerships

I am not getting into a discussion over what is dubious or not. That time line stated that MGs initially worked then they didn't. That seems to be in line with your experience. It is based on MG5 owner experiences and I don't know if the ZS experience is/was different. The fix was promised...

Free Tesla supercharger update from MG dealerships

https://www.mgevs.com/threads/mg5-supercharger-problems-faq-1-timeline-of-events.17569/ Read the timeline FAQ for the MG5 Tesla problem. Really enlightening as the information came from members on this forum. People might not agree with my contributions but that time line came from nearly 1000...

    Battery isolation fault help

Print it directly to a PDF. When I got the data, it was shown as a pdf on the screen so I simply downloaded it. The really interesting stuff is not available unless approved by MG unfortunately. Line insulation faults do not have to be a single fault. It is measuring the total resistance...

System fault fix after 12 V battery disconnection

Don't disconnect at the battery terminal. Disconnect the smaller wire on the sensor block. Does the same thing but doesn't cause the battery sensor to require recalibration as it has been reset. Don't worry if you do as it will sort itself out eventually.... like the warning lights do. See for...

What's a reasonable expectation on how finished the software is on a new EV?

The "standard idiot" is an affectionate term within those in the software industry that are developing the user interface and how it operates. It applies to anyone using the interface. The problem is that no matter how hard you might try to think like a user will actually use the interface...

What's a reasonable expectation on how finished the software is on a new EV?

The problem is that there is no IEC or BSI spec for a "Standard Idiot".

What's a reasonable expectation on how finished the software is on a new EV?

Learning the word "No" and how to use it would be a big step. All cars do the job they are intended for pretty well. Most are capable of going far faster than speed limits allow. How do you differentiate yourself? You need to market your car as being better.... Faster, safer, more gizmos...

What's a reasonable expectation on how finished the software is on a new EV?

    1. There is no such thing as bug free software. 2. There is no such thing as a totally compatible standards. 3. Software is not free. It is probably around 80-90% of a product development cost. That has to be recouped somehow! 4. Marketing keep making the car functionality more and more complex...

MG5 EV 2023 LR Rapid Charging, recovery & resolution guide

If you reset the 12v supply, disconnect the black wire that sits on the rectangular sensor only. There is no need to undo the battery terminal itself. If you do, then the world will end.... Actually it upsets the current sensor so until it has sorted itself out, you can't trust any associated...

    Tesla Supercharger Issue MG5 LR

Check out the FAQ - you have a compatible EVCC so all that is needed is a software update - about £100. Time to negotiate or go elsewhere.

MG5 Supercharger: FAQ 2 - What upgrades does my MG5 need to use a Tesla charger?

Assume nothing and you will not be surprised. Keep it simple stupid! Great attitude to take when writing and debugging software. Gold star as far as I am concerned. What you have just highlighted is one of the CCS compliance problems. The HV should not be connected until the negotiation is...
