As I understood it, all FL cars get the update under warranty. Either your dealer does not understand that and/or Mr Smart does not either. I would try elsewhere. There is also an email in this thread posted by Les Burrows from Miles Roberts of Chorley MG that confirms this. Again use that as a...
See Tesla Supercharger Issue MG5 LR
The model is very important but even more importanter(!) are the build date and numbers from the unit as that does appear to indicate if the MG5 is updateable. I also think it plays a big part with Zs models as well.
The answer is a definite maybe. Try it or call your dealer and they should be able to tell you if the update has been done. My gut feel is that it is late enough to have been done.
This is the list of EVCC-02 revisions, build dates that I have compiled from here and other sources. Given the EVC-02 build date and number and/or the EVCC part and revision numbers obtained through the eZS app, you can get some idea if that version and thus your car is upgradable.
If your...
Thanks for that. That is a very early unit and its build date is about 7 months before the earliest successful upgrade that has been done on a LR vehicle that I have tracked down - a 210704 unit build 1182835 fitted to a 2022 LR.
It might work but I just have this feeling it might not. The...
It should have a build number on it and a production date. That is critical as it needs to be compatible for the upgrade to work. Post that up and that will give me a clue as to what the build is and whether the upgrade will work.
Yes you are correct. Consider my wrists slapped. Confusingly I did find that larger 17 tyre wheel combinations have been fitted to the MG5 but not sure if that was for petrol versions.
I think it may well come back to rolling resistance and aero factors. Certainly in early EVdays narrow tyres...
That is excellent news. Definitely strengthens the case for others. I think the message is getting across.
Interestingly, I have just got back from talking to a dealer (not naming in case things go wrong) and after putting the car's details in the computer, said that it was due the upgrade...
I might not have explained myself very well so hopefully this will help. You have raised good points re keeping in the zone and not having a traditional multispeed gearbox so have included those in the explanation.
This is a typical AC motor efficiency graph and around the 50nm/2000 rpm is an...
It is all about the motor revs. Electric motors have efficiency graphs and the trick is to get the motor revs in the most effecient region. Slightly falling off that can lead to several percent reduction in the efficiency, and thus the power used and thus the range. Given that the wheels are...
The difference in modes is really twofold: they change the drive profile so that sport is more aggressive and eco is more chilled. One other difference is that they also determine how the AC/heating works which also affects the battery drain.
Cruise control certainly on the PFL and I believe...
He is not a techie having studied in customer care management at Coventry University and spent three years at Hyundai in Customer Care Case management before moving to MG about seven years ago. He has no expertise in technical matters and is basing everything he says on the recent MG5 bulletin...
Was that with MG Customer Service ? If not who exactly? There appears to be a lack of communication within MG on this issue as I've had very different stories depending on who it is. I suspect that someone saw the "need an EVCC change" bulletin and based on that said it would not work. And of...
That is great news. The point of the EVCC change message is very interesting as it is further confirmation that MG want to fleece PFL LR owners into changing that unit when there is no need. Your unit is compatible with MG4s and is one of the last fitted so there is absolutely no justification...
The answer is a definite maybe. The original understanding was yes but it appears some very early cars may not be. At this point I don't know which if any EVCC-02 units are not upgradable. Something I am trying to get from MG.
<NERD mode on> Arhhh The old 11313393 220110 EVCC - one of the last ones to be fitted. Appeared on MG4s as well - <Nerd mode off>
Interesting that there was an older bulletin. Any chance you could get a copy??
I doubt it because allowing those different levels start to introduce other issues like does the charger unit support it. Not all do. All that has to be checked. That costs money. Part of the problem is that there is no British Standard User to do all the things that the designers assume would...
