EV mode keeps dropping out on MG HS PHEV

I think I have seen that when driving in auto mode. up the top of the display there is a seperate line that starts up going direct from the ICE to the battery that is different from the charge/discharge line at the bottom. and a different color. I meant to try and take a photo of it but always...

MG HS PHEV Panoramic Sunroof Leaking

Reading this I am so glad I didnt get the phev essence model with the sunroof. I had leaking issues with a sunroof in a car I had a few years ago which used to drip on me. I ended up selling the car for that reason. In NZ its too cold to have a sunroof open anyway..

    gas cap won't unlock

I havent filled up for 6 months, it was tight before and mg changed my cap. Next time if it gets tight I have an 8 inch shifting spanner in my glovebox to get it past that first initial tight part. You need strong fingers which I dont have. I Just checked mine and after 6 months its tight again...

    Charger locked ,What I did

If you push unlock twice on your remote twice it will unlock. This can happen to me sometimes when removing the plug from the car after charging or while charging.

    EV mode

if you drop your inside temp on both sides to 19 deg, it will only go into auto mode for a couple of minutes after starting. It uses the cars heater which is run by the water temp. Also to help with demisting the windscreen set the air to be from the outside instead of recirculating. This is...

HS Plug in - mpg & performance with battery depleted?

We have done 1979 kms since we last filled up and still have 2 bars on the petrol gauge. According to the cars stats it is doing 0.5 litres/100 kms. Nearly all our running is in EV mode around town. We did have one trip of 230kms to Auckland in hybrid mode at 5.1 litres/100kms. We bought the Hs...

    Connection to the car computer

I asked about this many times after I bought my HS phev. Answer from MG and others was - No, the HS phev cannot use the MG app. As said above it needs a sim card which is only present on the Thailand models.

Thoughts on first 7 months ownership

yes and it stops it from starting auto mode once you have been running a while. It used to get down to 10 and below here as well in winter. I used to watch the side of the road marking where I could switch to ev mode without it saying ev mode not available and didnt bother trying to switch it...

Thoughts on first 7 months ownership

I also have the internal temps for the car set to 19 deg both sides which seems to stop the heater turning on so much apart from that first inital start in winter, any more than 19 and the heater keeps turning on taking it out of EV mode.

Thoughts on first 7 months ownership

We purchased the MG HS PHEV excite version, they wanted another $4,500 here in NZ for the essence which has a few extra features like sunroof, larger wheels, electric boot closing, dash lighting, fog lights, 360 cameras. But to be honest I didn't need all of those, the excite is the same ask the...

    Heater thoughts

I think the heater on/off is regulated by the internal temp of the car. When I first got mine default was 23 degrees and the EV kept switching to auto mode as the engine needed to start to heat the inside of the car. I started playing around with passenger and driver temps as I wanted to be in...

    gas cap won't unlock

Keep a small shifting spanner in glovebox. The extra leverage with it opens it past that initial tight spot. That happened to me a couple of times as well and mg replaced the cap. I havent taken the cap off for the last 2500 kms, I still have 2 bars on the fuel gauge so no need to yet :)

    Fuel economy

We are just over 100 km off running for 2500 km on the same tank of petrol and we still have 2 bars of petrol left on the gauge :) We have done 5504 km since purchasing the Mg HS Phev and I'm blown away with the economy of 0.4-0.5 L/100km, mind you we are in electric mode around town most of the...

    Vibration in throttle pedal

Mine only vibrates when the petrol engine first starts if I am Hybrid mode. After that if I am away on a trip in auto/hybrid mode, I havent noticed it on the highway apart from the noise difference, MG phev is so quiet in electric mode which makes driving on electric so enjoyable.

    Vibration in throttle pedal

Mine does the same, but I try and stay in EV mode all the time, It only cuts in sometimes when I start for a few minutes then I switch straight in EV so I hardly notice it :)
