My car was updated November last year to fix reversing warning tone when the towbar was was fitted. It took 3 days to download the updates at the dealers, they gave me a loan car while it was connected. I have the comfort version so no online connection anyway.

Seems to be a bit of a panic on software updates. If your car is working fine I see no need to have the Latest Software. I think this stems from the mobile phone software updates where people seem to think that having the latest and greatest software updates will impart some magical properties...
