    Pothole gives MG4 concussion.

It’s weird but rest assured the systems are likely working best way they can to keep you in one bit. Below certain speeds the abs ceases to function or you’d never stop the car so you may have been below that and it fully knew you needed no assistance. Or equally the crazy info it may have been...

    Smart Meter in Dumb Mode

Erm maybe grab a friend with an ev over for a cuppa, they often like leccy and a chat or do it a little closer to you actually swapping so you don’t eat too much into warranty on the charger?

    Long term Granny Charger Use

I’d guess the contacts on the extension socket have relaxed leading to a dodgey connection and the heat. You can’t really be sure how good a socket is as they are really just thin, bent bits of metal (who knows what they are made out of as well, copper, steel, aluminium could have been some...

    Pothole gives MG4 concussion.

Not my 4 but a petrol 6 in the house. If you unsettle the abs in that thing all hell breaks lose and the succession of bings sounds like an electronic version of Big Ben. Bing bing bing bing. Basically once the abs is unsettled lots of other systems shut down as the ability for them to work...

    Smart Meter in Dumb Mode

May possibly worth getting a charge point installed before hand, should you go with needing one. The ev tariffs can ask for proof of a car being on order or an ev point may suffice (mine didn’t tbh) but more so for the leccy supply. Your friendly sparky would apply to the DNO and should your...

Is it just me? (Poor solar weather)

Sorry it’s 100% my fault. Solar went in on 21st of May and with how my luck is it’s me. I assumed there would just be a single black cloud above my house but don’t think the powers that be would allow that (may look a bit suspicious). As for charging from solar must admit I’ve not bothered to...

    British Gas

If they ever book an appointment and miss it you are due £30 compensation. It doesn’t get automatically applied, you have to state that you want it.

    Smart Meter in Dumb Mode

In that case it must be properly dumb. Afraid you are going to have to whinge and whine at them - if you have hassle my favourite is to ask them to transfer me to the most disliked member of their team as I’m going to make someone’s day unpleasant :) Seriously though I think you need to push...

    Smart Meter in Dumb Mode

Right well looking at that you are oooop north (confirmed by looking at profile doh). You did blank out everything important so all good. As you are oooop there - it uses a long range radio signal not mobile type networks like down here. It’s definitely SMETS2 and not one of the fudged SMETS1...

    Smart Meter in Dumb Mode

I don’t see why you couldn’t have a simple timed charging package like eon, British Gas etc. that is assuming they can communicate with the meter to set it to the two rate. Has the meter actually been set to dumb mode or is it just lack of signal - maybe a meter swap would enable it to scrape...

    Unlooping and other bits

Well….. apparently they won’t string a new cable to next door from the transformer so it’ll be a lot longer job doing it underground (none of the houses are fed underground). Ct clamp is on now. Is that a thing now where they will only do underground ?

    British Gas

Good! Glad it’s working for you. Can’t really help with the IHD - their advice is normally to turn it off and remove batteries if it has them for a day then turn it on next to the meter. Apps like loop and Hugo are an alternative but it lags though at least you eventually have the info. Since...

    British Gas

I believe they have extended the hours for peaksave to 9-5. I “saved” a few quid over the months but still cheaper to charge at night on their ev tariff. They apply credit to your account each week. It does of course require the meters to be working, which I hope yours are.

    Lifetime warranty

Can’t really say much more :)

    British Gas

As hive is their own creation they can get knotted having any more money off me for kit to do things which should be done anyway. The IHD does its job for daily costs, Hugo set up with rates manually and my chargers own calcs for car costs (not that it really matters). Attached is all the info...

    British Gas

They are a nightmare, I 100% agree and now octopus have upped their game on standard GO the only reason they have any merit is they fix for a year. Prices are due to rise in oct so it may be a case of wait and see or battle on. I ripped my hair out with them and it was over 3 months of...

They prefer their horse and cart! (EV rejection)

Tell them the cost to charge. About £4 for 200miles. Other than that forget it

    British Gas

Good news! As others have pointed out probably best to get one of the intelligent approved chargers for if rates change to be more favorable. My charger went in before I was playing with tariffs and I just went with what local installer had because that’s just how it happened. Now you have a...

    Looking to switch to EV

As others have said (and I don’t want to be a downer) without home charging I think it will be a royal pain. Unless you have work charging or similar, relying on expensive public charging may leave you with many grey hairs !

    Unlooping and other bits

Finally got on to western power, well national grid. The plot thickens like my moose. Their unlooping request was closed hence it’s been nearly a year. Apparently an email was never responded to. Asked them about which email - they forwarded it and it was one that needed no response and after...
