If you have the electroverse app and card you can use it to suggest a stop based on your starting charge and required ending charge. It says my 2023 LR Trophy can do it with 28% left after a 100% start. But I do not know how the app calculates that but I suspect if you drive more slowly you can...
@Joningy, thank you for getting MG involved.
I have never disputed that a proper equalisation only occurs at 100%. The discussion was about whether cell balancing (aka equalisation) occurs at battery levels below 100%. This hypothesis was based on the the infotainment screen displaying the...
@Data, I do read your posts carefully and reply as required. However I believe that you do not read others' posts and when challenged becomes defensive and tell them to read the thread.
You consistently have not provided documentary or image evidence to support your statements. Statements such...
@Data, I see you are back having previously stated you were done with this subject (#29). Makes me wonder if the ZS forum is not as interesting as this one. Perhaps you should get an MG4
By the way, you are not the only one with engineering experience. As for your enquiring mind you were given...
@Joningy, references a website covering EV Battery Cell Balancing. This is an extract:
Note that this is generic. However, it explains how you can tell that the battery is being balanced.
With my MG4, if I charge to 100% then after the car declares that level has been reached it proceeds to...
This a toxic topic which invokes strong views on all sides. References are given but not detailed/imaged or are not applicable to the MG4.
I have assumed the MG BMS software was the same across all MG NMC cars but that would appear to be incorrect. So I shall restrict my comments to the car...
1. You will need to ask your Electricity Network Provider.
2. The kettle, freezer etc are essentially self-contained, local and earthed via the plug: thus can be disconnected from the house's earth connection. A gas boiler can have copper water pipework throughout the house and the gas pipework...
I have not used it myself but the function is not is not a speed controller just a limit system that warns you when you go over a set speed. The manual calls it an Overspeed Threshold setting in the Driver's display. See here:
The speed limit function in MG Pilot stops the car from going above...
I have not looked recently but last year the App (version not known) showed 200W more than that showing in the car whilst charging with the car powered up. I assume the App was reporting DC power to the car not power to the battery. Should not be too different if the car is not powered up.
I accidently said yes to the question a few months ago, after ticking don't remind me again. Forgot completely about it but it has not appeared to affected the car's performance.
However, when investigating the battery capacity calculation based on the consumption figures (another thread) I saw...
To continue the above, I believe my MG4 Trophy with its NMC battery equalises the battery cells after completing its charge to the set level.
Whilst it is doing the equalisation the info screen shows that it is doing 'Balancing', which can be considered the same activity. See image below (not...
Unfortunately this is a topic riven with false statements and often dogmatic positions.
@MarkHoward, you have introduced the adjective 'full' in front of 'equalisation' and this can lead to some saying that a 'full equalisation' can only be done at 100% battery level.
The MG4 manual shows the...
@Data, I do not have access to a proper ZS manual so please provide a screen image or images of the need to obtain a low battery warning before an equalisation charge can be carried out when the normal charge has completed. So that I can compare it with my MG4 manual.
Sorry meant to ask @Joules about their phone but they've answered showing the need to specify the phone type when specifying the iSmart version number to avoid confusion.
Ref the lack of lights on warning, I believe this has arisen because of the lack of a Start/Stop button and allowing the car to be powered down and locked using the door button/keyfob/Bluetooth. This means the warning will not be seen/heard.
Note when I tried to lock my car using ISmart but...
