So long and thanks for all the FSH

For me, the question is 'is there a bug?' Because, if there is, then we should be all up in arms for it to be fixed. However, if it only a problem with your car or your usage then to tar the whole brand with that fault is not correct. I am always keen to find the reasons for a perceived fault...

So long and thanks for all the FSH

Just experimented whilst moving from one parking bay to the adjacent to allow a passenger to get in. Without the seatbelt plugged in I was able to reverse out of the bay and move forward twice so as to fit into the next bay. As I entered the bay I stopped, autohold engaged and then I lifted the...

So long and thanks for all the FSH

Never had the seatbelt problem that you described and I have queued using the parking brake (at the local recycling centre). And I often move the car on my drive and when reverse parking without using the seatbelt. (I don't fully trust the reversing camera/sensors.)

MG iSMART app has a bug

Looks like AUS 2.2.2 is UK 3.0.0. Similar problem with EV management not showing battery percentage initially but after I reduced the charge level (and app reported failed but did it) the EV management page showed the battery percentage and mileage.

    Charging issues

You may be able to rapid DC charge even if AC charging has failed. Did the dealer test using their own AC EVSE? If not, they need to or to use someone else's.

    This is hilarious

Professor Hannah Fry has 2 series on modern (?) technology and one covers EVs (not Hybrids). In that she says that Edison and Ford co-produced an electric car and that EVs were taking off in America until Ford created the production line and his Model T was cheaper than the ICE cars and EVs of...

MG4 won't start because it thinks it's plugged in

@cjkelly83, this thread may have answered my question in the other thread you started. The Mods may merge them. It would be interesting to know what the AA technician did/checked, if you can remember. The 12V disconnect usually rectifies stuck 'bits' in software but won't fix hardware faults...

MG4 brake alarms while being towed by recovery

@cjkelly83, is there any chance that the fault that required the car be taken to the dealer is causing these alarms?

If you think putting your car key through the washing machine is bad...

With regard to the boot button, I don't know if you realised it @Rolfe but it is an 'unlock and open' button. If you hold the button down the boot will unlock and open a little bit - you still have to heave the boot lid up. Just saves you pressing the boot handle button to open. EDIT: The...

    iSmart not connecting today?

My iSmart connected at 08.19 this morning It is connecting but I needed to wake it up.

MG iSMART app has a bug

In the UK the app is still 3.0.0 so perhaps your local version has not had our changes. However, it may be that your phone has a corrupted cache so you could try deleting that. After that deleting the User Data but that will log you out of the app. Finally deleting and reloading. Unlikely but...

    Locked out

I suggest you contact your dealer and Octopus and make them aware if this critical safety issue. The car should not be doing this. It should not be connected to the software updates done at the last service but, as others have reported, not all dealers are clued up with the MG's software...

Charging Flap / Door not opening

I bought a cover from Amazon. It has a magnet loop inside one end seam and a tie at the other. In an emergency (and it's not windy) cling film will do. I read somewhere that unlocking whilst attempting to open the flap can work after a few goes.

strange failure to go into ready

Did you put your seat belt back on again when you sat down again? Sometimes if I fail to do so when moving a little way the car allows me but other times it will not let me go into drive/reverse. If that's not the problem you could try powering down the car through the info screen and then...

Merged thread: Automatic Emergency Braking activating for no reason

When I bought my Trophy in 2023 I had a couple of emergency stops whilst turning right. I set the sensitivity to medium and had no problems from then on. But since the SC077 update for LKA I've left the sensitivity at high because I found the car would no longer alert on medium where it used to...

    Locked out

Yes, every EV should have a window smasher and a battery booster. Mine are in the centre console.

    Locked out

Thank you for providing all this information and good luck with your dealer. What is happening is not the correct behaviour; it does not happen with my Trophy. As @MG Clive states the car should not lock itself once a door has been opened and that includes the boot. In respect of the trial in...

    iSmart Update to 3.0

Not that I can remember but that's no guarantee.

    iSmart Update to 3.0

The heating/cooling is activated when the required pin is entered, it's just that there is this strange text underneath the 'Please Enter Security Code' text when the code is required. Could you post a picture of what you get when you are asked to enter the code?

    iSmart Update to 3.0

@Kithmo, do you not get one if the messages @Susanna and I have posted when you start the AC and/or seat heating?
