What is your usual charge range? (Trophy LR)

I usually run it down to 30 before charging to 70-80%. Yesterday I let it do a balance at 80%, Ive just returned from a short trip and its showing 75% 194 miles.

Octopus charging twice as much as Ohme meter ?

There is an FAQ on the Octopus site about IHDs not correctly registering the tariff changes. In fact I have just been trying out the Zappi and Octopus have been boosting the charge from solar excess amount to 7.1 kW (adding around 4.6kW) The IHD shows we have used £4.70 worth of electric but the...

    Any Zappi tips?

Well I'm pleased to report that Jamie from Octopus installed my Zappi, he did a neat job and tidied up properly once done. The whole process went smoothly, on connecting to the car (and app) it started charging at the 2.5kW solar excess. A couple of minutes later I switched to IOG and it carried...

    First Wash In Three Months

Mine had its first contact wash in 3 months last week but within a few days it looked like I'd been off roading in it, Fenland roads I guess. So it's back to surfex/snow foam, jet wash, another foam then rinse for now. At least I managed a Yum cars Foam+ after the contact wash so there's a...

Insurance Renewal time again, any recommendations?

I think saw a report that premiums should be 16% lower this year, `MoneySavingExpert' I think.

    Charging 10%-100% every 3-6 months

The first time I did a balance charge i.e. leave it charging at 100% (but not from 10%) it sat for the best part of an hour with the current slowly reducing until the car reported charging complete. Subsequent balance charges, mostly done at 80% reduced to about 20 minutes. The only time I tried...

New MG4 owner - newbie tips

I think it is recommended in the manual to 'reset' the BMS a couple of times a year for our NMC battery.

Do you ever do a 10-100% balance charge using IGo smart charge?

New MG4 owner - newbie tips

I'm not sure if it is still a problem but IIRC people have had issues with IGo and trying to use their solar excess where the answer was to disable smart charge. I'm on the FiT scheme so want to use as much of my excess as possible.

New MG4 owner - newbie tips

Is this easy to achieve? I don't have my Zappi yet but my understanding that you give Octopus control of the Zappi and then ask them to schedule the charge, how do you regain control, or am I overcomplicating it?

    Any Zappi tips?

True, not sure how I calculate my actual export, but for each deemed kWh I get 7.1p if I put that in the car I save 7p so get 14.1p benefit without having to. My numbers for last year work out that I bought 3900 kWh for around £650 (plus standing charge) of which 2122 kWh went in the car and...

    Any Zappi tips?

Hi, I'm on solar FiT so get paid 23p to generate, even if I then use it!

    Any Zappi tips?

As per the title, despite being a strong advocate of using the granny before buying a 7kW EVSE, I've ordered a Zappi. I'm interested in learning any tips for maximising solar excess (I'm on the FiT scheme), whether the Zappi will do a full (10-100%) balance charge. in the summer I hope to do the...

Granny charger using a smart plug with usage monitor

I've just checked some stats and in the last 12 months I've put 2122 kWh through my Tapo smart socket. For overnight charging I set the Taco to power up the charger 5 minutes before the car scheduler starts the charge and power it down 5 minutes after the car has ended the charge. Neither the...

    Bad month for solar generation

Not so sunny in this part of East Anglia, only 14 kWh here from a 4kW array but on the plus side the FiT payment from that almost covers our total cost for the day including 5hr granny, dishwasher and Sunday lunch cooking.

    Bad month for solar generation

Some friends of my parents emigrated in the 1960s, got really homesick after 18 months, came back to UK, hated it and returned to Aus.

    Bad month for solar generation

January, to date was 89kWh which is worth £20 in FiT payments, I don't think there will be much generated today. Unless February is spectacular I can't see it getting anywhere near the 500 kWh average for the winter quarter.
