    Planning a trip to Scotland

I followed the advice on here and now have a shiny new CPS card ready for my trip having only had a 50% success rate with the Electroverse card here in Norfolk I decided it wasn't worth the risk.

Loud thump/vibration when DC fast charging

Could it be battery cooling/heating kicking in?

    Sainsbury’s rapid chargers

Maybe the Electroverse discount is a 'movable feast', I've just grabbed a quick charge to try out the RFID card ready for a holiday trip and it showed a 10p discount at the local Travelodge until mid February.

    Planning a trip to Scotland

It does seem excessive but its not a lot compared to the total cost of the holiday and I'd rather give myself as many options as possible while on holiday.

    First wash of 2025.

No contact wash for mine until the beet lorries finish their work. Until then it's just Surfex HD followed by snow foam, jet wash followed by another snow foam and jet wash on a drizzly day. I need to do a contact wash soon so I can give the car another coat of Yum Foam+, it seems to have done a...

Great, that's what I was hoping to hear now I just need to check that the card works as I've had it for a year but not needed to use it.

Thanks, Wetherby is likely to be an early breakfast stop so hopefully won't be too busy.

Yes I saw that, just wondered if anyone has used them - just in case it was out of date or not ready yet.

    Planning a trip to Scotland

Early research for a trip planned for May, we'll be heading from Kings Lynn to Ardgarten. I've just downloaded the CPS app, will my Electroverse card work with their chargers, or do I need to order theirs? An initial go with ABRP suggests Gridserve Wetherby, Carlisle Ionity and Osprey at Queen...

MG iSmart not working following iOS update yesterday

Mine came back around 18:45, seems like a repeat of the 'Friday server down' issue, not noticed it for a while but then this is first time I've wanted to pre heat the cabin for a while.

Yes it does via the app or from within the car.

Conflicting Info on UK Tax Rate for EVs ?

True but I'm looking at older vehicles where so long as it works 1 car is still worth 1 car 5 years later. My 'van' only does 2-3k miles per year as I use it to fetch horse feed/bedding/hay, go fishing or R/C planes flying. Even if I just scrap the current Jazz its depreciation is less than £400...

Conflicting Info on UK Tax Rate for EVs ?

I planned to add an electric van to replace a really old Honda Jazz that I use as a small van but the upcoming changes mean Ill look for a newer Jazz that sits in the £35 bracket instead as the van VED will cost me far more than I'd save going electric.

Granny charger using a smart plug with usage monitor

Isn't that what happens with a Zappi when using solar excess and the excess drops below 1.4kW, or perhaps it does a soft disconnect. Maybe the answer is to set the timer to power up the granny 5 minutes before the off peak starts and use the car/app schedule to start/stop the charge the charge...

    Battery and car pre-heating

Possibly, mine was last updated in June 2023, nothing was 'needed' at the last service.

The other bit to remember is if you are connected to the charger but not charging it won't work.

    Problems with granny lead

Not really sure what you are suggesting, I don't set any schedule in the car/app I just use the smart socket schedule to turn on/off at Go times, use the manual override to check I am properly connected and the separate timer to end the manual test after a short while.

    Problems with granny lead

After my recent issues I have taken to plugging the car in and starting the charge immediately to make sure it has connected, then using the Tapo (smart plug) to turn it off after 30 minutes ready then to turn it on again for the Go overnight rates, which has worked fine until a couple of...

    Bad month for solar generation

I've not been recording individual months (only FiT quarters) until recently, so I don't have a direct comparison it just felt very low at 10% of the average quarter. As it is the annual FiT payment is roughly the same as my annual electricity bill so I shouldn't complain. I'm just trying to...

    Bad month for solar generation

I agree about winter expectations, over the last 8 years we averaged around 3800 kWh annually with the winter quarter contributing around 500 kWh. I have been only noting the quarterly totals as FiT is paid quarterly. What has surprised me that for the whole of December just 51 kWh has been...
