Circular reasoning (Rolfe's solar energy system)

Today is probably the first day this month when I've tried to add sunshine, done a fair few miles and all of it has been on Go rates. But although its been fairly sunny the 7kWh I've added has still cost around 70p so more expensive than Go.

MG4 Standard tyres are seriously dangerous!

I believe that the foam can interfere with the sealant process as the foam may stop the sealant flowing out of the hole sufficiently to set.

Circular reasoning (Rolfe's solar energy system)

I think the idea of a second CU ia that you use Henley blocks to split in incoming power before it goes to your house CU so the tap for the Zappi happened before your house CU that way the battery (CT clamp) which is on the feed into the house CU cannot 'see' the Zappi load and therefore will...

Any (charging) tips for a trip to and around York

I have used the MFG at Beverley (close to Hull) which worked fine. If you go to Pickering for the railway, the main town car park has some DC chargers, there are a few more in the car park opposite Lidl. The DC chargers I just use contactless, I didn't use the ones near Lidl, I think they are...

Circular reasoning (Rolfe's solar energy system)

I'm already doing what I expected to do in the winter as the solar generation has been so poor this month. Last year I was able to just plug in the granny on a sunny day and add 10-15 kWh but only buy 1-2 from the mains due to clouds and house load, but at the moment it's closer to buying 8-10...

Circular reasoning (Rolfe's solar energy system)

I think if you have a method that works for you while you are waiting for the G99, then just do that as I suspect you will approaching it differently once you are getting paid for the excess. Then again it may change again in the depths of winter.

    Tyre load rating

My 2023 (22 model year) trophy manual states 215/50 R17 95V. The actual tyre has XL rated (extra load)

    MG 4 Long Range miles

Nope, adaptive regen changes the regen setting according to the conditions, low regen at speed increasing the level at lower speeds, at least that's how it works on my Trophy. Likewise Regen is configurable under custom on my car and no it doesn't remember it either. Edit: just checked and regen...

Circular reasoning (Rolfe's solar energy system)

I'm guessing that this is only a temporary problem as once you start getting paid for your export you will be better off charging overnight and selling your solar.

    MG 4 Long Range miles

Must admit I've not messed with most of the settings since I first got the car. I tried custom early on but soon settled on Normal and either regen 3 or adaptive, this gave me decent enough range and I've not had any range anxiety that might cause me to select ECO.

    MG 4 Long Range miles

True, although I believe you have to reset the parameters every drive, hard enough to remember to switch off LKA each time. I find that Normal plus adaptive regeneration give me the best economy (plus a controlled right foot!)

Circular reasoning (Rolfe's solar energy system)

I don't have a Zappi, nor do I have a battery but am watching this thread with interest in case I go down this route. You mentioned you have neighbours with the 'same' set up, do they have the same issue (even if they are not aware of it)? If not are they on the same firmware as you? It sounds...

    MG 4 Long Range miles

After a recent 10-100% charge the GOM came up with 308 miles remaining, tonight its showing 218 miles @ 71%, sounds like you have a software problem or a very heavy foot, BTW I just use Normal mode I really didn't like the brake feel in ECO.

All new cars now have to have speed limiters

In addition to picking up signs on adjacent roads mine also fails to read the signs where the signs are not clean or partially obscured by vegetation or the placement of 'gate' at a village boundary.

Circular reasoning (Rolfe's solar energy system)

Coincidentally a recent YouTube video just appeared in my stream by Tomas McGuinness about this very problem. He explained the battery drain issue due to positioning CT clamps with some nice simple animations. Interestingly he mentioned a Zappi setting that was supposed trick the Zappi into not...

    Valet Mode

I think if the key is not inside the car the only thing that happens is the drivers screen shows 'Smart Key not Detected'.

    Best value charger with Octopus

I think the scheme did what was intended, it encouraged enough people to 'invest' in something expensive when electricity prices were relatively low that allowed for competition to help bring the prices down. At the time domestic metering couldn't really cope with two way traffic so the only...

    Valet Mode

Not that I'm aware of but you can power down the car from the safety screen that will allow you to park the wipers in the vertical position so you can clean without damaging the bonnet paint.

Octopus does It Again!! (Tariff Reduction July 2024)

I've just switched from the standard flexible to Go (still using the granny for now) as the premium at my location has dropped to 1.3p and the extra hour was useful. Apart from the fact that the in home display doesn't seem capable of coping with split rates all went smoothly.
