Crash due to Lane keep assist.

To do that I either have to wait a long time (first service is after 2 years), or pay a lot of money. Possibly. It's a bit confusing having the other options available but not LKA. OPD should just be a 5th option for regen - which can easily be toggled with the steering wheel star button...

Crash due to Lane keep assist.

I'm not bent out of shape, just pointing out it is quite an inconvenience. I mean just check this nonsense... I drove to our local regional centre and back today so I video recorded the process when I got in my car each time. The LKA disable option often doesn't even appear, then it decides to...

Crash due to Lane keep assist.

I have to navigate menus with multiple screen taps to do this. It's definitely more than "seconds". A steering wheel control option would be far preferable so it can be safely and easily switched on/off while driving. Anything requiring the driver to use the touch screen to change a driving...

Results of being rear-ended at 20mph...

I would suggest an experienced eye take a look. I once had a small shunt from behind and I did not think much damage had occurred and it wasn't until the specialist showed me the actual extent of the damage that it became apparent it was a lot worse than I thought.

[Australia] Looking for some home-charger feedback/opinions

In Perth there is only one retailer, Synergy. They have an EV plan but the peak rates are a bit of a gut punch given with solar PV most grid consumption will be during the peak period. Ref my earlier post:

You can disable that, with it only activating when the car is put into reverse gear, or when you specifically select to view the 360° camera.

There is still the USB C port for plug-in charging.

Keeping track of my MG4 (efficiency)

I use the SAIC Home Assistant integration to keep tabs on mine. All the data automatically logged. Also auto log all home charging data, and I keep records of any charge sessions away from home. I think I lost my manual data log for the initial months but here's the table so far:

Portable charger included with Australian MG4

1.6 kW into the drive battery is about the max you will see when using the Australian MG supplied charge brick. The max current draw for the MG supplied charge brick is 8 A, which at 230 V is 1.84 kW, however there are losses along the way to getting power into the drive battery. Firstly is...

[Australia] Looking for some home-charger feedback/opinions

I see you are in Perth, WA. This might be problematic depending on the PV array configuration for a couple of reasons. i. It will need to be largely western facing PV array to enable this to work best. Even so, production after 4PM will be declining rapidly and it won't be long before there...

MG4 77 kWh Extended Range max charging rate

Yes, it's the same as selecting max. Not sure why it has that name and I agree it's a silly. I must have just reprogrammed myself to refer to it as "Max". That would probably be because: i. that's what the function does so my brain reassigned it! ii. in my SAIC Home Assistant integration the...

MG4 77 kWh Extended Range max charging rate

In the car? That should be set to "max". The EVSE will adapt to the supply and may adjust its max charge current a little. As to the power losses between the supply circuit and the drive battery, that's normal. The car is reporting the DC charge rate into the drive battery. The onboard AC to...

Correct, and as such only those driving a lot of k's have actually had their first service (model only started selling here August 2023).

    Consumption

What sort of speed is this journey driven at? Assume exact same speed in both directions? If that is the only climbing then the elevation change alone accounts for ~2/3rds of the economy rate difference between out and back journeys. Add a bit for the temperature variance (different air...

    Consumption

Each 0.1% of gradient adds a ~0.47 kWh/100km at perfect drivetrain efficiency but it's likely to be closer to 0.6-0.7 kWh/100km.

    Consumption

It is amazing how even small changes in gradient and wind can affect consumption. In elevation terms that would mean an average gradient of just 0.3% on that journey, negative on the way there, positive on the way back. In wind terms it could be caused by a prevailing wind of ~ 10km/h...

So, Long Range you say ?

I'd like to know how much recent driving the range estimate is based on and how it is calculated. Is it using the previous hour, or 50 km or what? What sort of averaging is it doing? I'd have thought an exponentially weighted moving average of the economy rate with perhaps an averaging...
