Should we get more home battery capacity?

Have you thought about using the EV as a second battery to get you over the shortfall till you reach the cheaper power availability .... Sorry if someone has already posted about this idea, but the wife has said it's time for bed ;)  Yeah, but I can dream though  T1 Terry

Jan was rubbish month for solar

This is what the electricity regulator is looking to do in Australia, Submissions Close On AEMC Plan To Raise Fixed Charges so the MG4 as an additional solar storage unit will be a must and we will go off grid ..... let them see how well that goes for them ;) T1 Terry

Is Sodium Ion about to hit mainstream

That will be the true test, an EV of the same make and model, one with what ever the normally fitted battery is and the other with a CATL Na+ battery. Theoretically, the battery heating would be turned on, they are good down to -40*C, so the -20*C should concern it much. The other theoretical...

First MOT, major fail, both front suspension bushes

Interesting, starting to sound like a design fault, MG know about it and they changed the design with the updated rear window wiper model ...... does that match the failed v still good suspension bush discoveries? T1 Terry

Is Sodium Ion about to hit mainstream

It's the crazy Americans with their Tesla designed charging port that are left out in the cold so to speak. The things I've only recently thought about, is regen into a very cold battery, does the battery heating kick in automatically if the battery temp approaches 0°C? T1 Terry

First MOT, major fail, both front suspension bushes

Our MG4 is just coming up to 12 mths old, so I best check that the canvas isn't showing, no guarantees they will still have legal tread on them with the way the wife drives  Somehow, she actually managed to get both the rear tyres to squeal on the dry bitumen as she launched out of the...

    MG4 in Australia

If I had a cool $124K sitting in my pocket .... I'd be petrified I was about to get donged on the head ..... but I'd invest it till it reached $365,000, and by a Lucid Air Saphire ...... then park it some where safe because I'd never be able to afford the insurance  But how cool to roll up...

Is Sodium Ion about to hit mainstream

The CATL Na+ will charge at 5C without a problem, all day every day, NCA at around 2C to 80% but degrade due to heat generation internally over time, NMC at 1C to 1.5C to 80%, but again, continual fast charging will shorten cycle life. Good quality LFP, 3C to 5C, but 1C can be pumped in to...

First MOT, major fail, both front suspension bushes

This one seems to be a contentious subject regarding tyre rotation. In the rag tyre days, it was diagonally opposite swap and the worst went to the spare ..... at least that one has been sorted these days because spare tyres are worn by the driver and not part of the vehicle's equipment :LOL...

Keeping track of my MG4 (efficiency)

22°C when it's really hot and humid outside, 24°C when it's biting cold outside ..... probably the type of weather many on this forum might regard as summer weather  As for driving on Ice and snow roads, I'm guessing my kWh/100km would be a lot better because I'd be driving slower and with...

Is Sodium Ion about to hit mainstream

It is broken, The two choices at the moment are: Ternary chemistry cells like NMC (Nickel Cobalt Manganese) and NCA (Nickel Cobalt Aluminium) don't function all that well in the cold, -20°C will result in a 60% to 80% capacity loss .... this becomes more apparent as the cycle life increases...

Is Sodium Ion about to hit mainstream

CATL recently announced their first supplies of Na+ (Sodium Ion) batteries for next mth. That belief that it was yrs away before they reached anything that was comparable to LFP may have just been shattered. My question is, would you choose an EV with comparable range that used Na+ cells, or...

Keeping track of my MG4 (efficiency)

Yeah, 25kwh/100kms, so the full 51kwh battery to travel under 200kms. Looked at the B/S label on the windscreen, claims 402km from the 51kwh battery, yet also shows 184wh/km, that comes out to the average of 18.4kwn/100kms .... one of them is realistic, the other, off with the fairies...
