What if EVs came first and someone invented a petrol car?

I remember in the late '60's, the local newsagent paper delivery was with a VW thing converted to electric ..... from memory it was 144vdc and used only 2nd gear .... the whine of the forklift motor as he launched around the corner of our street, step uphill right turn on the flattened peak of...

    Nurburgring Hot Lap

If you added a line down the centre, it looks a lot like my wife's driving style ;) I don't think it was racing rubber, when the 4 wheel drift occurred when the traction control was turned off, opposite lock regained the grip, with racing rubber, when all 4 wheels lose grip like that...

New Video: Most ridiculous arguments against EVs

We are certainly in for interesting time with so many vested interests with big wallets resisting change and then squirming out of any restoration expenses once they abandon a once profitable site, be it a fuel station or mining pit, Aust has a lot of them that the big multinationals just left...

Feeling stupid about my first public charge…

I start out at the supply end with both plugs in hand, that reduces the odds of getting it wrong when I get to the car end ;) In Aust we have different wiring and plugs, the standard house power point is 10 amps. I use a variable control type single phase 3 pin charger supply plug and can...

12V battery drained in 48 hours whilst locked

Can anyone confirm or deny this is the case? After Tesla getting it's butt handed to it after a half hearted attempt, and the ever growing list of drop in battery failures and to a lesser extent, fires, I'd be doubtful any EV manufacturer would be willing to take the risk and increase the build...

Anyone wash their car today? ?

It hasn't rained this yr, so the MG4 is about as clean as it was at the end on last yr .... If I wash and polish it, some lowlife will open a door into it or run a key up the side or something .... when it looks unloved, they give me plenty of room in the shopping centre car park ...

I'm back in the number 1 spot ..... but for how long, I have sleep sometime and I'm sure some members here will take advantage of that  The 10 hrs ahead isn't much use when no one is posting that I can interact with ..... and I have to avoid getting all techo ..... the long posts are...

12V battery drained in 48 hours whilst locked

Disconnect the battery and charge it to 14.4v and until the charging amps drop to only an amp or so ..... disconnect the charger, wait 10 mins and check the battery voltage ..... it should be better than 13.8v. After an hr, check the voltage again, it should not have fallen any further. Check it...

    Battery Preconditioning

The battery heating is more to do with not damaging the cells in the battery if attempting to charge them below 0*C .... is the figure most commonly used .... but that really depends on the electrolyte mix in the cells regarding the min. temp they should be charged at ...... The risk is the...

12V battery drained in 48 hours whilst locked

There was another thread regarding what battery to replace the original MG battery with, and a bit of a discussion came up on that thread regarding building your own LFP battery against picking up a cheap drop in from EvilBay etc. Teslas is the only manufacturer that has gone down the lithium...

New Video: Most ridiculous arguments against EVs

That will be the big one, getting those tanks out of the ground over here required soil samples before the concrete slab can be torn up, so core drilling through the slab and a lot of places and to pre determined depths, samples sealed in casings for lab testing .... incredibly expensive ...

    Here's to 2026!

I thought it required scanning every post made and adding a like icon to it :sneaky: adding a reply to anything you might get away with replying to .... so a specific question on a model feature on anything other than a poverty pack MG4 .... might look obvious ;) I think I've already lost my...

New Video: Most ridiculous arguments against EVs

The Hamish still use the horse and buggy, you will never see 100% EV adoption, but EV dominance will be seen in most of our lifetimes The Rogers' adoption curve says we are still in the early adopters stage in most countries, but rapidly moving toward the early majority stage in a lot of...
