Charging Port Refused to release the charging cable again - is this a fault?

Only had it once at a faulty charger that kept taking pre payments and not charging the car. In the end it was a random combination of locking/unlocking and using the stop charging button in the car that allowed it to release (might also have been the charger doing something)

Home Chargers - Cold weather issues, or more FUD?

Have they tried pre conditioning the battery to see if that makes a difference?

    MG 4 deep sleep mode

Mine goes into deep sleep after about 24 hours of not being used. I can wake it up using the key fob, just unlock then relock (from inside the house). After that the app can see the car. The choices for all remote connection cars (not just MG) seem to be keep the car online for longer but have...

What if EVs came first and someone invented a petrol car?

It will be interesting to get to a stage when an EV review is done in the same way as an ICE car review, no mention of efficiency or range or time to charge. You rarely get ICE stats on MPG, time to fuel (including the drive to/from the forecourt) or difference in range in the Summer and Winter...

    found another quirk.

Found a document online that said the airbag activation for the passenger seat requires 29kg (65lbs) of weight on the seat. Not sure if this is for all MG models. I guess a minimum weight requirement would prevent smaller children from activating the car if they sat in the driver seat

Is range anxiety finally defeated in England?

If you drop circles with a 150 mile radius on those maps you would get an idea of pretty much how far most EVs could travel between charges. In the UK you should be well covered. I suspect in those countries with larger land masses you would be wanting the best efficiency and battery size you...

    ID.POLO (ID.2) revealed

Going to be some bargain iD3 and Born around once this next gen of VAG products are released. All the things they tried and failed at now sorted. Like all the manufacturers who removed rear wipers in gen 1 cars then put them back in the first revision they could. Also interesting how the front...

    Cold weather mileage.

These are my last year of charging stats giving what the efficiency would have to be for the car to reach the GOM estimated miles. Start is when the car was plugged in to the charger and end when the charger was unplugged. So even by standing still the GOM will change it's mind, I am assuming...

    Problems with non-MG EVs

Problems with cars are not limited to EVs or any one brand. Off the top of my head the issues I have read about are Kia and Hyundai CCU (charing unit ) failures across all models (mostly Ioniq 5 and EV6). Porsche Taycan (again first gen) numerous battery issues including Porsche sending letter...

Be interesting to see what an AI search BOT does with the site stats. Most points or most posts, might give a BOT conclusion that every MG query must be sent to LenEV2016 for a response 😁

Long motorway round trip in MG S5EV – Update after completing the trip

Charging curves are always handy to know so you can balance how much charge to put in between stops and how long you will have to wait to get to a certain level of charge. This site has some info for the S5 Long Range https://evkx.net/models/mg/mgs5/mgs5_ev_long_range/chargingcurve/ Standard...

    %, miles or both?

For a long trip I go with how many miles are left and leave a 30-50 mile buffer when planning charging stops just in case the ambient temp changes or the charger(s) I plan to use do not work. For daily driving usually charge up to 80%, after charge gets down to around 20%. Also schedule in...

Noise from car in the wee hours of the morning

Is your daily use/schedule with the car always the same. My car will go into deep sleep mode (so even the app can't reach it) after about 24 hours of not being used. So maybe this is your car checking a system and turning it off. Also check if you have battery heating on as it maybe the car is...

    Home charging two cars

Depends how far each car has to go on any given day. We have an XPower and a Mini electric, you can get the Mini to 100% pretty much overnight where the MG will take 2 nights. If you never let the battery charge get too low you could probably top up either to 100% for any given long trip...
