    Can anyone (Can't select D or R)

Are you saying they are charging you £275 to investigate issues with a fault on a new car? If so - them to jog on. That is unacceptable.

    Can anyone (Can't select D or R)

Assuming it’s new because 2024… Have you contacted the place that you bought it from and asked them for advise yet? That should be your first step.

    MG4 Software Update Thread

The MG4 is a budget vehicle. Why would it be disappointing to find that MG have cut costs to keep the price down?

MG iSmart not working following iOS update yesterday

There were widespread problems with mobile connectivity for IoT devices on some networks (any device using an IMSI that roams on Vodafone UK) for a large part of Thursday/Friday. The timings of this problem seem to match the reported iSMART issues fairly closely.

    Charging to 100% When Cold

Use the car as is appropriate for you. Charge it how it works for you. Trying to fit “best practise for X” into your life when it doesn’t work for you will just fill your life with stress that you don’t need.

Fix to get MG- ismart app to connect every time.

There are widespread Vodafone UK issues at the moment. If the modem/eSIM is configured to use VFUK that could explain the problem.

    Irritating app.

The “privacy notice accepted” notifications are a minor annoyance. I’m not aware of the cause or how to prevent them. Try writing to iSMART support through the app if you’re desperate for answers.

    MG4 EV Battery charging

The key thing is that once it's plugged in at both ends and the cable gets locked in place by the vehicle, the EVSE can start pumping current through. The only really important things are: Once the cable gets locked in by the vehicle (you should be able to hear it latch when both ends are...

    headlights cut out randomly

I turned off the lights a few times before working out what was going on and changing my grip on the stalk. It’s not quite brown-trousers time when it happens but it’s close. It’s a pretty terrible bit of design. It shouldn’t be possible to accidentally turn the lights off, but here we are...

    Seat belt warning

It won’t let you drive if on a slope without the seatbelt on. Thats the only consistent thing I’ve found. This is particularly annoying as my garage is on a hill, so I get out, open the garage door, then have to out my belt on to reverse into the garage.

Intelligent battery heating: stops when selecting ECO driving mode

Heating air uses a LOT of power. If you’ve got the heating turned on in the vehicle then this will seriously impact energy consumption especially on shorter journeys where it uses a LOT of power to heat the cabin initially. After it’s warmed up the consumption settles down as it takes less...

Charging my MG4 at Tesla Superchargers in Exeter

Tesla v2. Easy example. Loads of these around still. Plenty of IONITY chargers don’t have card readers. Cobham services has a mix of some that do and some that don’t. The InstaVolt near my home doesn’t take cards. It looks like it might be supposed to, but it doesn’t. Hasn’t done in about 6...

Charging my MG4 at Tesla Superchargers in Exeter

That’s a bold and vastly incorrect claim. In my experience - MANY rapid chargers do, but definitely not most. And even if they do support it, there is no guarantee it will be working when you need it. My suggestion - plan your route. Download the apps and create accounts in advance. Get an...

    ACC and TJA hard braking

ACC is much improved with the latest software. It's not good by my definition of good, but compared to what it was it's a LOT better. It still doesn't handle a number of common situations particularly well - it has a habit of seemingly slamming on the brakes to create a gap rather than just...

    MG4 Software Update Thread

I thought that was a module / infotainment version mismatch problem. Can’t give version numbers but if infotainment is updated the modules must be updated to an appropriate version so they all talk the same language.

    Public charging issue

Opening the boot doesn't unlock the doors or (more importantly) charging port, so charging continues.

Be interested to know more about this. I’ve tried googling but there’s not enough key words to go on and get what you’re talking about specifically.

    Password / app sharing

Ah, the language of the tabloids. Got to love it. "It's a disgrace". No matter how much impact it has or what it means for anyone, it's an absolute disgrace. Not a minor inconvenience but a DISGRACE. A POX ON THE NAME OF MG! Calm down a bit - and I don't say that lightly. This is NOT...

    No to One Pedal driving

You know the MG4 is a budget product, right? It's like the cheapest of the cheap. Nothing on the MG4 is particularly highly specced where it doesn't have to be.

Charged a fee for software updates? (MG4)

Not really true. They will be free if there is a software fault that can be claimed for under warranty or if MG choose to make it available. If you just want later software because it's later, then there doesn't seem to be a precedent for this being free or even being available to you. Given...
