Help charging issues on Fast charger.

To be clear to anyone who reads this and to avoid spreading FUD: There is no general issue with R59 and rapid charging generally speaking - in a small part because R59 is the infotainment version and I think it is safe to assume has little to do with battery management, but mainly because the...

    MG4 Software Update Thread

I also meant to add that I was told by the service person on the phone that 5mph increments on the ACC was “just how it is”, yet magically it now is doing 1mph increments. I completely forgot to ask about data usage. Dangit.

    MG4 Software Update Thread

I’ve just had my MG4 trophy phase two in for service and software updates. Serviced at Richmond Guildford. Complained of Bluetooth issues, and ACC performance. Updated to R59 no questions asked, so far after only a short drive I’ve noticed several differences including the bar at the top of...

Help charging issues on Fast charger.

have you checked the charge level is less than the max charge level set in the car? Have you called the charger providers and asked them what they are seeing? “Seems to fail to communicate” - what does this mean? What ARE you seeing? What you aren’t seeing isn’t that useful.

    Charging MG4 issues

That is not a true or fair statement to make in such confident and generalised terms. I’ve used just about every conceivable method of home charging from the cheapest to the most expensive and they’ve all worked just fine.

    MG4 Software Update Thread

While an MG4 is still one of the cheapest EVs of its size and performance on the market, it will continue to sell. The lack of OTA updates is... annoying. It's not a deal-breaker though as long as updates are available somehow. Preferably without visits to a dealer.

    Owning an EV is pants

So what you're actually saying is that driving an EV in North Wales requires planning? I've nearly run out of petrol in North Wales on a Sunday afternoon because I messed up and didn't plan properly. Do you think I complained that owning an ICE car in this country is rubbish?

    Stupid, stupid, stupid

The lights will only be on if you switched the auto lights off and set them to manual before shutting down/locking the car, or if you didn't lock (or shut down) the car.

"mileage" disappointment or there's wrong/normal here?

AC doesn't impact the battery anywhere near as much as heating. It obvs has some impact but compare A/C to heating and it's nothing. This is everything you need. High speed constant driving is the least efficient. Don't stress about the battery. There's not much you can do as an average user...

    MG4 internet, data limits

What are your symptoms? What version of infotainment? What is the Data Traffic icon showing on the left/right drop-down? Blue and togglable or greyed out?

    MG4 internet, data limits

Well my “Data Traffic” icon is now active again but the hotspot still doesn’t seem to be working. Though I am at Loxwood in the middle of nowhere so who knows whether the car has any actual signal… it claims full 4G.

    MG4 internet, data limits

Interesting if true. Also annoying, as we don't have any way to view the data usage.

i suggest you start a separate thread about this.

    MG4 internet, data limits

This is unrelated to this thread but the iSMART digital key system does NOT use mobile data. It uses Bluetooth to the vehicle. Confusingly you can lock and unlock the vehicle remotely using iSMART and the mobile data stuff but it’s a different mechanism and you cannot start the vehicle using...

I got this reply from an email I sent via the iSMART app:

    MG4 internet, data limits

My hotspot hasn’t been working now for a week or two. Unclear on when it started. No software updates. R40 infotainment. Phone connects fine to car WIFI, car screen shows a 4G connection and that phone is connected, no data transfer from phone. Have tried manually setting DNS to various...

    Step by step to charge?

See my post on it here: What is the right way to charge? Car on or off? ie, it doesn’t matter.

What is the right way to charge? Car on or off?

My experience is that it doesn't matter: DC: Leave the car on, plug in the DC charger, start the charging session on the charger. It works. AC: Leave the car on, plug in the AC charging cable to the EVSE, plug in the car, start the charging session. It works. OR.... DC: Shut down the car...

Keyless start? Anyone got it working?

Why not just unlock the vehicle using the digital key in the first place? That works fine. It's slightly weird that the app provides two different ways to lock/unlock the vehicle - one is "in-app" and the other is the digital key, and they both work slightly differently. i.e. you can't lock the...

    Apple carplay?

No. If you have 26 cables that don't work I'd be looking at what the common factor is there: your devices. Perhaps start with cleaning out the ports. They fill up with gunk very easily which makes the cables not sit properly and the internal connections poor because they don't fit in properly.
