    Regenerative Braking: beginners explanation, please

It should be said the levels only apply to lifting the accelerator. The first gentle part of the brake application will then increase the regen up to it's maximum before the friction brakes start being applied when the requested braking force becomes too much for regen to satisfy. So you can...

    PoGo and Electroverse

I didn't even get as far as trying to charge. They were 7kW chargers, 6 posts with two sockets per post. Looks great for overnight charging... No contactless, app only it says on them. Download the app. Create an account. They offer a month's free subscription with reduced prices, great. Try...

    PoGo and Electroverse

Over a week ago I used the 200kW PoGo chargers at Crick M1 - first time user and impressed. Easy to use, nice big easy to read screen with charge graph etc, and at 65p full price, 60p with Electroverse, somewhat of a bargain nowadays. But the question is, I haven't seen this charge come...

MG4, Zappi and Octopus Intelligent Go

Most people could probably spread a big charge over a couple of days. For those that can't (big milers) the part of the charge at the bump rate is still much cheaper than public charging. But I guess if this is enforced without any tweaks, you'd need to compare the overall IOG cost against...

MG4, Zappi and Octopus Intelligent Go

But the customer doesn't ask for "6 hours @ 7Kw", they ask for a total kWh to be delivered by an end time? So long as that is delivered what does it matter if some slots are "slowed down". Edit: ah! I see the point about reduced charge rate and exceeding the 6 hours. Something Octopus need to...

MG4, Zappi and Octopus Intelligent Go

Maybe, but IOG often sets the max charge rate for some slots lower than 7kW. I guess it would depend on how much extra demand they want to create at any particular time.

MG4, Zappi and Octopus Intelligent Go

What difference does that make though? The car is still charged in the morning either way  One way potentially enables more renewable energy on the grid, and one doesn't.

MG4, Zappi and Octopus Intelligent Go

But that restriction is down to MG not opening up their API to Octopus, drive a VW (or any of the other compatible cars) and you can just plug in as they originally intended. The fact they have opened it up to non-compatible cars albeit with that one extra step is a bonus. And is setting the...

News: Over The Air (OTA) Updates for MG EVs

Are they going to up the monthly data limit as well then? I can imagine lots of updates stopping when the current small limit is reached.

Has anyone managed to switch on A/C remotely?

Which, afaik, only works when the infotainment system is running. So as much use as a....

    MG4 Software Update Thread

The SE has fixed units in that the low and high adjust as single entity. The Trophy lamps are individually adjustable low & high. The factory high beam adjustment seems to be way off on many cars.

Has anyone managed to switch on A/C remotely?

You need to use the iSmart app - MG do not allow third parties to use the car API. The Ohme will just keep the power switched on for you to use if you wish.

Has anyone managed to switch on A/C remotely?

Worked fine for me this morning. I have to wake the car properly by doing the "scan" (second icon, the shield with a heartbeat) after that I switched on the defrost, rear window heater, and drivers seat heater ok.

    Tomato Energy

40+ IT years consulting for big corporates and government for me too, and I have to agree it is never simple, even when the data is all available. I came across a bank keeping vital bits of customer information in an Excel spreadsheet on a office desktop. Another that was running a custom...

Pay per mile. Another blow for EV drivers

If they are not going to monitor the milage how does it work then? I'll wait to see what is actually announced rather than some speculation.

MG4, Zappi and Octopus Intelligent Go

I don't have a Zappi, I'm just interested. But does it not allow you to have multiple car profiles which define the battery capacity and max charge rate? I only have experience of an Ohme so far and this allows you to do that. So with multiple cars, you would select three things: the car...

Same with the cutting off at 5:30, that is hindering you too.

Why does my MG always revert to 100%

As above, the car should stay at 80% if you set it at that. The only time mine has changed is when I get a "token expired" in iSmart and when I log in again it had reset to 100%. But if you are setting the "to add" value reasonably accurately it should not go much above 80% anyway (mine stopped...

Why does my MG always revert to 100%

And Octopus are correct, they cannot read or control the car - MG do not allow it - that is why you have to manually set the "amount of charge to add" each time you charge. OIG has always been like that.
