MG4 ER - Time for new tyres

yeh agree and I swapped front to rear as the rears wearing faster around 28,000km's. Now at 48,500 they are all worn pretty evenly and close to wear indicators.

MG4 ER - Time for new tyres

For the few times we get rain here, I would agree, not a lot of grip in the wet from the original bridgestones but being rear wheel drive was very controllable. What I found more scary was the OPD in the wet when going around a curved freeway offramp and crossing the metal expansion strip's on...

MG4 ER - Time for new tyres

Yeh I was pretty happy with the mileage on the originals. I am not light on the pedal, do mostly home to city driving at 60km a day and a mix of highway, gravel road when taking my mountain bike out on weekends (so some added weight on the back). Did that 48,500 km in just on 26 months and...

MG4 ER - Time for new tyres

Thanks for the Ted talk, lots of great info and would agree with the overpriced T005 and their lack of wet grip. Albeit as you know on the west coast more dry and hot vs wet. Bridgestone said the 48,500kms on the originals was a good run and I am not a light footed driver.... true that soft and...

MG4 ER - Time for new tyres

Thanks guys. So yeh seems the T6 is cheaper than the T5. Hard to find stock of either Bridgestone or maxxis locally though. So far T005 4 x $401 ($1,604), T006 4 x $349 ($1,396). Maxxis vs-ev 4 x $319 ($1,276) or on the get 4 and pay for 3 are Yokohama sport v108 total of $1348 and stock...

MG4 ER - Time for new tyres

Hi all. The time has come after 48,500kms to change the original bridgestones on my MG4 ER. Looking for input on replacements for Australian hot weather conditions. No ice, snow etc requirements 😀. For the same Bridgestones I have been quoted $415 per tyre. An equiv maxxis EV tyre is around $350...

    MG4 model advice please

Think of it a slightly different way. Range isn't a deal breaker until you need a bit more range 😉. Also think of the potential attraction that ER "may" have to prospective buyers at resale time, when one of the items on a new EV owners mind is range anxiety.

    One pedal operation

Oh totally agree, I notice it when I forget to set OPD before zipping out and then come to the first T Junction and have to use brakes!!! Or drive my partners auto Mazda 3 and realise I need to actually push an extra pedal every time I want to slow down ....

    MG4 Speed Recogonition

Interesting you need to turn the chime option off every time. Here in Australia, I turned that option off once and never needed to do it again.. re speed sign recognition, I have never figured out if it was using actual camera or GPS info or a combo of both. I turn it off (yes each time i...

    Acceleration Response 'Mk1 versus Mk2'

I would agree that the display of a number other than 0 is a glitch. Mine does it at times and I can be on a steep hill and display is 0 and at times on a flat road and have had a positive number... mine is an aussie 2023 extended range and don't think we had any version here with no rear wiper...

    One pedal operation

All great questions and not 100% sure. Don't actively look at -ve display, too hard really while driving and it changes too fast to really gauge an accurate answer. I run highest regen and 1 pedal always. Feels the same on the few times I have been at 100% as at 80%, which is my usual charge...

    One pedal operation

That's weird, I have no range issues with mine. Just put 47,500kms on it, had the first 40,000kms service and not one issue with it. Have had the headlights not coming on once and simple to fix with a restart. Range averages 10.5 to 12.5kw, city highway but when I have mountain bike on the back...

    Which colour shows the dirt?

Same here, Aussie conditions and grey rarely looks dirty

    One pedal operation

I have seen these replies many times and although the message seems odd I get it.. but.. I have a 2023 australian essence 77kw, so trophy equiv extended range and even at 100% SOC I can still enable and use OPD. I have never seen the message and have no idea where the regen energy is being sent...

    Most useful MG4 accessory?

Wireless Android auto adapter and tray liner for phone charge tray. Never had an issue with the phone shooting off under acceleration since installing tray insert

    Most useful MG4 accessory?

Yes agree with your comment. Some of the reviews of the MG4 made so much of the lack of lights in rear area..

MG4 Ticking/Rattling Noise Coming From Behind The Steering Wheel

Yeh possibly. Given it hasn't got any worse in 45,000 kms all in a very dry and hot climate doesn't give me too much concern

MG4 Ticking/Rattling Noise Coming From Behind The Steering Wheel

Agreed. I have had this same annoying noise since new 2023 model on a right hand drive where curb is on left side. Noise is exclusively right side and like others say sounds like it's behind steering area. A ticking sound that occurs at low speeds, reduces when turning at low speeds and is...

    Hot days = Warnings Galore

Live West coast Oz and temps get very high during summer. Neither heat, 40c plus nor cold (recent 2 and 3c) have generated any errors in the cars 44,000 kms. Don't always remember to put on aircon on hot days before driving so car is crazy hot (thank God it's not full leather seats). Aircon...

Mg 4 headlights failed to come on

Had it happen once in 42000 kms. Simple solution was to basically reboot car by exiting, lock and unlock. Hardly a fatal accident about to happen.. was pretty easy to spot that my headlights were not on before I drove off....
