Well there are some lessons learned. Very interesting to get some real facts.
There have been 6 EV fires in Australia from the beginning of time & none involved charging.
Don't hit anything at high speed like a tree or a lump of steel hanging out the back of a truck as happened to 2 EVs...
Maximum torque is 250 Nm for the 51 & 64 kWh battery versions and 350Nm for the 77kWh version but as with all EVs this is delivered from 0 rpm & how it is put on to the ground depends upon the drive mode selected.
Also ICE cars require servicing every 10,000 or 15,000 km on average. The first MG service is in 2 years or 40,000km. By then you would have had 4 services of your ICE vehicle & that would be 2 to 3 times the cost of the first MG service.
You are indeed correct. 4G connectivity at my house is pretty poor but the MG is on the Vodaphone network in Australia which seems better at home here than my Optus phone connection.
I looked at my router connections & the car was not there. I went to the car & looked at settings and clicked...
I have had a 2kW grid connect solar system since 2013 & I am now adding another 6.6kW to that so I can charge during the day mostly from solar and am today getting a new smart meter installed & am changing to an EV plan to get free power during the day on weekends.
When the solar went in they...
In that case when I start the app it must prompt the car to turn on WiFi, otherwise I would not get a status report in the app. It doesn't matter how long the car has been sitting there turned off, it takes only 10 to 20 seconds to do this.
That's why I'd never go on a trip at peak holiday time.
Why are there so many broken chargers in Australia? From comments elsewhere we seem to be the worst country for chargers out of action. Australia was very late to the EV party with contempt shown by the Morrison government and a lack of...
I get 390 to 400km at 110km highway speeds with AC on but with only me in the car. I have the Essence 64kWh version.
My longest single trip was from Corindi Beach (35km North of Coffs Harbour) to Coomera BP Pulse but missed the turn off & went back to Helensvale on the day of the Optus...
My car connects with my home WiFi when I drive it in to the garage. I turn the car off but don't lock it. iSmart connects to it via my home WiFi when it scans the systems & does its checks so WiFi is On even when the car is Off.
A frog walks in to a bank and asks for a loan.
The loans officer asks for his name.
Kermit the frog says, Kermit Jagger, What's yours?
Patrick he says Patrick Whack.
How much do you want.
I want $30,000.00 says Kermit.
30 thousand, good grief you're just a frog.
I have a famous father says the...
I don't think the App has any software written to monitor balancing at all. It knows that there is still charge going in to the battery but as it has already reached 100% it cannot display any future time for the balance process to terminate so just displays the current time. This time will not...
It was posted on the MG4 Australian Owners facebook group. I don't know how it was found. My dealer didn't know about it till I told them. My car is booked in for the fix on 31 January. It appears that the fix does not apply to UK owners so it's all a bit odd.
As mentioned in an earlier post my 7kW single phase charger dropped from over 6kW to 4 - 4.4kW at the time the car and app stated it would reach 100%. The only way to check if it is balancing is to look at the battery functions option in the car infotainment screen and if it is balancing it...
I charge to 80% all the time with my 7kW EVSE but it is always at night so I never get to see what happens at the 80% point. I had been told originally that it would balance at 80% and this appears to be the case based on prior posts. One day soon I'll do an observed test as I did for the 100%...
I normally do my 100% charge early in the month but at off peak rates at night. I'd forgotten to do this due to New Year and holidays. Today is Sunday 14th of January & rates are off peak all day plus I get some power from my rooftop solar. So I decided to find out what actually happens. I have...
None of this is rocket science. You should plug the charger in to a socket that is capable of delivering 10 amps. Most are but if you can get that tested then you will know.
The granny charger supplied by MG is rated at 8 Amps.
The nominal voltage in NZ is 230 Volts.
Volts multiplied by Amps...
I use OPD all the time. When charged to 100% and then trying to set OPD a screen message says it is unavailable. I have never worked out the percentage of battery when it is available. I just turn it on after a few km of travel but then charging at home it always works from 80%.
The maximum...
