I quite like the noisy A/C .. it warns pedestrians when going down our lane, which is also a footpath. They wouldn't hear me otherwise.. mind you some don't until you sound the horn!
And i AM getting my money back, at an annualised rate of about 10.8%. This will increase as electricity prices increase.
I haven't even included the savings im getting from running an ev as opposed to a fossil fuelled car but you can add a further 10% return on that too. How much do you get...
Not necessarily, you are taking a risk on the stock market and you may not get back what you put in. However the sun always shines. In addition I have significantly reduced my contribution towards climate change and pollution.. not sure what cost you put on people's lives but there you are!
Yes, the peak time is 4 - 7pm. Can't remember the cheap time but it will be early hours with a standard rate in between. The 3 rates depends on postcode.
I'm on Octopus intelligent go and its 7p cheap for 6 hrs, 26p standard rate for the other hrs and 15p export at all times.. my total energy...
A friend of mine has just had a 15 panel solar (6.6kWp) installation including a 10kWh battery.. £8.4k total.
She also has a heat pump on the octopus Cosy tariff. When she switches to the Flux tariff she will be able to import cheaply at night, 10p I think, and export at up to 40p/kWh during...
My feeling is its more to do with the Zoe inverter more than anything else, as I said earlier many instances around of Zoes refusing to charge because of an earthing issue. Or maybe just very fussy.
I shall have to try it on another ev make and see..
The former.. couldn't get it to charge the Zoe. I do know the early Zoes are very fussy earthing wide and I used to hear a lot of failed ac charges because of that.
Ho hum..
Either that or maybe the ac output from the MG has a distinctive sine wave shape which other evs recognise, maybe not...
Yeah, was just curious.. I actually tried it on my wife's Zoe but it wouldn't charge.
I tried a couple of times but no dice. It came up with a message on the Zoe display "impossible to charge by battery". So it must have known somehow.
Maybe something to do with the earthing? But you would...
Has anybody tried to charge a second ev via the MG4 discharge cable? Is it possible even?
Was wondering if it could provide an emergency small charge if someone ran out of juice. I boiled a 2.7kW kettle with mine so in theory could be done..
Great review, thanks.. I went from an MG5 Exclusive to an MG4 SE, both fine cars but the 4 better in many areas, particularly the drive experience. Interesting about the height getting in and out, im getting to the stage I prefer a higher seat..
Seems like many people prefer using the Tesla open network.. I did register with them but have never needed to use tesla to date, maybe I should.. their connectors fit an MG4 OK?
