Is Battery storage a better option since utilities price rises?

You can use the off-peak hours for anything. Intelligent controls when they charge your car on your behalf and they charge you at the cheaper rate, even if they decide to charge 3pm because the grid has an abundance of solar/wind. The 'compromise' is that you get cheap off peak for letting them...

My Solution for Rear Number Plate on MG5

As I saw it heading down the A12 towards M25, I'll hazard that its the same vehicle.

Estimated miles went down dramatically after I charged it

Clearly you drive with a lighter foot than I do. I'm happy with 230-250 miles in warm weather, 180 in the colder months. An electric Mach-1 would interest me. The Mach-E not so much.

    MG4 vs alternatives

It could be MG are making minimal profit/breaking even to get their Brand established with some marketshare. Almost a loss-leader type affair.

Funny new story of the day

Man borrows sons Tesla, charges to 100% and its 95% in the morning? - let me guess. His son has preconditioning configured

Bit of reassurance for the MG5

Thought I would just add.. Its not tesla fast, but it's also not slow. Similar 0-60 as my 91' Lotus Elan Turbo (7 seconds) and dare I admit it better 50-70mph pickup than the 4.6L Mustang. Its not a B Road thrasher like the Lotus, but as said earlier. This is my commute car, not the weekend toy.

Bit of reassurance for the MG5

It's my 'beige' car. It's not overly attractive or fun to drive. But it is easy and comfortable to drive. It's economic. Ticks the environment box. It's my sensible commute vehicle which is perfect for my 18k/year usage. Lots of early reviews of the Standard Range pointed out understeer when...

    Forecast ICE this winter

The EV/Smart Tarrifs seem to be the only viable option. My old diesel commute vehicle was around 30p/mile at £1.70/litre. Mustang is about 45p/mile which means my once a week trips to work have been axed. Comparatively my electric would need to be around 85p/kw (basing on 3m/kwh as I like to...

Apps and Charge Cards - which do you recommend?

I live where it says a120 and work near the first charge location on the left down the A12.. Which BTW is not publically accessible. The default filter on the ej app is also all chargers filter it to ej compatible and it is even smaller. However other areas of the country are better covered.

    MG culling small dealers

If it's a small dealer that does well with sales numbers, the cars on display figure might not be a hard and fast rule. If the small dealer is in a geographical area with no other major dealers, again, it will factor as customers won't generally drive too far for look for a new vehicle.

    Tesla price increase - again!

I would be quite happy for full automation on motorways and major dual carriageway A roads. I enjoy driving, but the traffic and accidents at rush hour just sap that right out of you.

    Best supplier

That's a bonus. Going to sting when you come out the other side though. Best to stay put and engage smug mode for a bit.

    Best supplier

Is that 20p a fixed rate or the standard variable? When the launches to 52p you'll be feeling the pain. If it's fixed, I hazard that it's due to end fairly soon as 20-25p is what it was at 10-12 months ago.

    Home charging your new MG4

Are you talking theft of the untethered cable, seems to be a rather overblown thing by the media, I've not managed to find much in the way of credible reports of thefts on EV forums. If it was a serious issue there would be a lot more owners making a noise. I went untethered as I would need a...

Apps and Charge Cards - which do you recommend?

They've just rebranded to Electroverse as they now cover charging networks in several countries, and that could be really helpful for those on European holidays. Especially as there's no pre-auth charges on your card.

    MG culling small dealers

My dealer is Ford/MG/Subaru and have room for 3 cars inside the showroom.. Lately that's been 1 or subarus as everything else is sold out. Now I can see why they're looking at planning to turn the plot into houses. 8 vehicles is a lot of space. Quite a few manufacturers are also insisting on x...

    Autoheadlights question

It needs to be undeniably dark. It's intentional to prevent them flickering on off as you're driving along. I suspect time of day may also play a part, but maybe they're not even they intelligent. In heavy rain/tunnels during daylight hours I manually click my lights on as it usually doesn't...

    Broken valve stem

Did the TPMS register as high or was it under reading compared to you checking manually. Ive checked mine and they match the TPMS readings, I was wondering how reliable the TPMS readings actually were.

Year old car 60k on clock would you buy ?

There's a lot to be said for the 'now price' Given the fact all manufacturers are giving huge estimates on lead times, and seem to keep moving the goalposts, I'm not surprised the market has risen to capture the desperate and impatient. And sadiq is warbling on about another ULEZ expansion...
