    Miles/kWh

I almost always select KERS3 in my MG5 as I'm convinced it provides the best consumption/range. As you say, it's a matter of developing the technique of feathering the accelerator and most importantly, having a very observational and anticipatory approach so that you have plenty of time to react...

How low can (will) you go with your charge level?

Actually, I am pretty optimistic about the battery technology (otherwise I wouldn't have bought the car!!). I was just wondering what criteria would ultimately be used to invoke the warranty. As you say, we aren't expecting any scare stories for some time to come - if at all.

    Miles/kWh

Yes that's a fair point. If the current output (and voltage) of the HV battery is being monitored constantly and integrated, that would cover the entire energy consumption of the vehicle including inefficiencies due to heat and all the ancillaries.

    Miles/kWh

Great results - let's see who is first to evidence >5m/kWhr on a 100mile journey.

    Miles/kWh

I agree that the accuracy of the meter is subject to debate. Like you, my experience is that the trip/fuel computers in ICE cars have become pretty accurate over the years even when coasting a lot, which I always did (credit where it's due to the designers!!). I don't think it's possible to...

How low can (will) you go with your charge level?

I hope it'll be as straightforward as that but I somehow doubt it. I wonder if any owner so far, after fully charging the car, can report a battery charge level showing less than 100% or a GOM value less than the maximum range (e.g.214miles for the MG5)? MG isn't going to make a battery warranty...

How low can (will) you go with your charge level?

Or, putting it another way, it's going to be very difficult to prove that the car's range has reduced by 30% when the condition of the battery is in question because we don't know how meaningful the battery charge indicator and GOM are.

How low can (will) you go with your charge level?

This question also intrigues me. I would like to know how the car ascertains the level of charge left in the battery. It's particularly important if you consider that the 7yr battery warranty will provide for the battery to be replaced in this 7yr period if the charge drops below 70%. Does that...

    Miles/kWh

I don't think it is technically possible to achieve an average of much over 5 due to the limitations of physics and I would challenge anyone to achieve and demonstrate a reading higher than this over a 100mile journey (the challenge is on :), folks). It's pointless doing a 10-20mile decline and...

    Granny charger waterproof?

What a pity they put such a pathetically short mains lead into the charger, otherwise you could plonk the charger under the car regardless of where you decide to plug it in. I have to drive the car forwards, right up to the garage door with the charger-unit-and-mains-plug plugged-in just inside...

    A couple of general questions

Maybe I should have gone into acting - there's obviously a need for diminutive actors - take Tom Cruise for example :)

    A couple of general questions

Loved The Persuaders BTW, when I was a kid. Tony Curtis was the coolest dude in town back then (I think I particularly associated myself with him cos I'm only 5' 7"" and he wasn't exactly a giant!)

    A couple of general questions

A friend of mine had a passenger ride in a Tesla the other day (can't remember the model), but I think they accelerate twice as quickly. Hard to imagine how hard to drive that would be on full power!! Practically drag-racer performance :)

    A couple of general questions

I've only ever used Eco mode - plenty fast enough for me! Also means you get a better range estimate on the GOM, so you don't sweat so much :)

I'm a Pay-as you go..er, too. They wouldn't offer it if they weren't making money on it.

New favourite angle of the MG

That's just lazy. Anyway that angle's not in the list :)

    M.P.G.

The impressive fuel costs certainly encourage one to use it a lot! The downside is that the warranty period (75k miles IIRC), comes up quicker :)

    Regeneration brake light

Thanks Arfur. I, for one, would appreciate that as (like you) I think the brake lights should come on given the amount of braking power available from KERS3. The brake lights do illuminate in the MG SUV model so why did they delete it from the MG5? Maybe this is what the dealer is getting...

    Regeneration brake light

The regenerative braking doesn't work until the charge is down to about 95%, Les. It's for the simple reason that there is "space" in the battery to take the charge. As soon as it drops below around 95% everything is back to "normal". By the way I did some accelerometer measurements using...

    Regeneration brake light

That is a useful snippet, Arfur. You'll love the car, BTW. Several people including myself have tested this and it certainly does not come on (unless they have very recently changed the design). Personally I think it is worth following up but I'm not sure how to go about it! You can't really...
