    Regeneration brake light

This was quite an interesting article I found..... https://insideevs.com/reviews/342108/best-and-worst-electric-cars-for-regenerative-braking/ It seems as though different manufacturers implement regenerative braking in different ways. It suggests that they are trying to optimise the systems for...

    Automated charging

Thanks for the warning. If my daytime bills start to increase unexpectedly, I'll know where to look. The one I've got is about 300yrs old - built to last :)

Good job the spelling Auto Correct didn't get involved with that one :-)

Cost of journey and err stupidly warning

Is it possible to drive off with the cable connected? I haven't tried it yet but I presume it's impossible :)

    Regeneration brake light

From my experience, I think you're incorrect there. There is significant braking from the hydraulic system before the power needle swings further into the blue. Try it.

I thought the car did all that for you - oh no, sorry, that's the Tesla.

    Regeneration brake light

Petriix - you are right that further regenerative braking is applied with the brake pedal in all KERS modes. However it does not appear to occur until significant braking has commenced which seems odd to me. Why allow some regenerative braking with the accelerator pedal, then some braking with...

    Nice Wheels

That's an option. The wheels colour looks pretty good on the Westminster Silver vehicle but darker might suit just as well.

    New car first drive

It's more or less the same thing. The GOM has to get it's estimation from somewhere (i.e. percent battery charge) and it will estimate a remaining mileage from that. It's easier to add these two numbers together (i.e.GOM+acual) as you're driving along than it is to work out percentages as you're...

OK guys. Well that's me told.

    Regeneration brake light

I agree that you'd want to implement as much regenerative braking as possible otherwise energy would being wasted, but my point is that I don't think (in KERS3 mode at least) that there is any more regenerative braking to be had once you foot is off the accelerator. I'll check it though and...

    Nice Wheels

Has anyone cleaned their MG5 wheels, yet? I do like the look of the wheels but they are a bit of a challenge to clean. Also, after less than 2000miles I have found that brake dust has built up on the inaccessible inner part of the "spokes" and doesn't come off easily. I can envisage the alloys...

    New car first drive

A good result. I can see from the speedo that you have just bought the car and not yet re-zeroed the trip counter. So, assuming it was fully charged when you collected it, if you add you trip mileage (121miles) to your GOM estimated mileage (93miles) you get 214miles which means you are well on...

    Automated charging

I have an old "clockwork" type mains timer rated at 13A. To be safe I ran it first during daytime hours to check and there is no significant heat increase at all over several hours. I now use it to "harvest" Economy 7 electricity most night using the Granny charger.

    MG5 dipped beam pattern

I'd expect them to be pretty similar. If it turns out that your offside beam is actually higher than it should be, then oncoming drivers could be being blinded. Try driving up close to and facing a wall (say 5ft away) in darkness or semi-darkness and look at the beam levels. They should be...

    Gas paddle late response

Have to agree. I don't even need to press the pedal - I just think it and it does it. I've driven some quite fast cars in my time and none of them give me the satisfaction that this one does.

Cost of journey and err stupidly warning

I'm forgetting all kind of stuff these days, although I haven't managed this particular thing....yet! Does anyone think it's a bit odd that there is no kind of rubber seal to prevent weather getting in through the charging door. I know there are caps fitted to the sockets but it all seems a bit...

    MG5 Motor and transmission noise

It could be a stone stuck in the backplate of the brakes - I've had that from time to time with previous vehicles. Seems unlikely I have to admit. Nice to know these vehicles are covered by a 7yr warranty :-).

    Regeneration brake light

The power meter should be an accurate representation of what's going on, as you say. And if it goes further into the blue when you brake then it does suggest there is more regenerative braking being applied via the brake pedal. Does it go further into the blue, the harder you brake? Maybe this...

    Regeneration brake light

In my "5", KERS3 provides some pretty potent stopping power without going anywhere near the brakes. I can complete the majority of most journeys without using the brake pedal at all if I anticipate road conditions properly. I'm pretty sure that the brakes are just brakes - you press the pedal...
