    Poor charging experience

The ones I'm thinking of, the limit on the chargers is the limit on the parking. i.e. you won't get fined by PodPoint, you'll get fined by whoever runs the Tesco car park.

    Poor charging experience

Yes, and I think it's coming soon. Holiday flat last week had off-street parking, and I idly wondered whether there might be somewhere to plug in the granny charger. But then I thought... Well it's not beyond possibility that there's a Type 2 charger. Now, there wasn't. But I can see it getting...

    First long trip in MG4

In the Android app, Settings -> Navigation settings. Engine type: Electric, and "prefer fuel-efficient routes" There's also Settings -> Electric Vehicle Settings, where you can tell it what plugs you support - but so far it's not doing anything useful for me about chargers. I bet it will...

    First long trip in MG4

I'd only caution that I understand those places are absolutely rammed during the school holidays. So maybe 6 sockets in Beer (four Wenea rapids, two Scottish Power 7kW) will suffer lots of contention.

    First long trip in MG4

Thank you. Wrong side of Sheffield for me though, unfortunately. Setting the filter on ZapMap, there are 4 locations with 100kW or more in the whole of Sheffield. None inside the ring-road. None in the south-west quadrant from the centre to the moors. It's quite a shock to me, having in the...

    First long trip in MG4

Thanks. I'm looking at the InstaVolt at Chesterfield Tennis Club. It seems surreal that I can't rapid charge in the car park of an arbitrary M1 motorway services - or that I have to plan ahead to this extent at all. I'll be really disappointed if this time next year that's still how it is.

Does it make sense to buy a new base model MG4

A few observations: MG4 has a 7 year warranty. That's got to reassure you - although I do see people complaining about the standard of customer service. I've had no problems with mine, so no opportunity to experience the customer service. I don't know about Slovenia, but here in the UK there's...

    White Lines

An interesting thing is, my wife hates LKA. She always turns it off, and if she forgets to, it'll soon do its thing, and she'll shout and swear at it, and I'll turn it off as she drives. Whereas when I drive, I don't turn it off, and I think it's only nudged me twice in the three months we've...

    First long trip in MG4

I know people have previously reported on their "long trip" experiences, and having had the MG4 a couple of months going no further than 60 miles from home, I was looking forward to seeing what sort of experience taking it on holiday would be. Warwick to Seaton in Devon. Actually only 160...

Dash cam - never had one, don't know where to start!

Bought a NextBase dashcam years ago, for our North Coast 500 trip, because my wife thought it would be fun to have a time-lapse of the whole journey. We do have that time-lapse, but it's not great because for a lot of the journey I hadn't realised you could turn the polarised lens to eliminate...

    iSMART app v1.1.2 available

Oh, I think I'm experiencing this: scheduled cabin preheat? - seems it won't preheat if it's plugged in but the charge has finished. Poor.

What would make public charging better for you..?

I probably do, but I don't just want it to exist. I want it to be ubiquitous. The technology isn't difficult. The politics of getting it adopted is. (See also the UK smart meter SMETS1/SMETS2 shambles)

Ohme - one charger, one account

Also a poor show :( And I planned to very soon. (Well maybe just Go)

Ohme - one charger, one account

Poor show. But I'll have to go with it.

What would make public charging better for you..?

More basic - ditch the top-up-my-credit model. I don't want to leave a float with PodPoint, BP, ... Let them have my card on file and direct-debit / whatever when I owe them.

What would make public charging better for you..?

Ideally, an industry standard, works everywhere, system whereby you just plug in and walk away. Car and charger communicate to establish who you are, and who they are -- and charge according to a policy you've set up globally at some point. Options for overrides of course. Really you want...

Ohme - one charger, one account

Just had my Ohme Pro charger fitted. It seems - just like MG iSmart - it's linked to one account, and one account only. So my wife and I will need to share a login and password. And I've signed up with Google, which means we can't even do that. In general -- this is just unacceptable, isn't...

Dash cam and CarPlay at the same time

Also if you want to get fancy, I saw someone on another thread had found a connector in the roof, among the interior light wiring, that he'd drawn power from for his dashcam. It did need a voltage conversion.

There's another USB port in the back seats.
