MG4 Trophy + Ohme Home Pro + Intelligent Octopus

I seem to be there now, despite the test never having passed. Well, I'll attempt a charge tonight and see whether it works.

    EV Charging in Scotland Unfair

Yeah, I just did this. I had to demonstrate to myself that the dishwasher can be started then delayed. So the routine is: Supply power to the dishwasher Interact with its control panel, start a wash -- you hear it pumping some water Cut off power to the dishwasher Set a timer to resume power...

MG4 Trophy + Ohme Home Pro + Intelligent Octopus

Thanks. I'd already deleted my Ohme account and re-made it with an email/password because I wanted my wife to be able to use the app too, and password-sharing is the only way. Just like with MG iSmart, and just as unacceptable in this day and age. Oh well. I just got an email from Octopus, 12...

MG4 Trophy + Ohme Home Pro + Intelligent Octopus

(Not sure whether the fact it's an MG4 is relevant, but it asks you to plug the car in while it tests, so maybe...) I bought an Ohme Home Pro charger from Octopus themselves, specifically so I could have Intelligent Octopus. Then I got a standard Octopus account and am currently on the...

Electric vs Petrol vs PHEV Journey Cost

On a 150 mile, 3h40m journey last night, we stopped for dinner. There were Instavolt chargers in the car park (the OK Diner, Leominster). So, opportunistic charge? Well, we would have, but we didn't need that charge, and it was 75p/kWh. So we didn't. I think as people learn, they're going to...

Learning to drive my MG4: Reversing on tight ramp

I think we're missing OP's main point. How do you crawl forward from a standing start? Curious myself, because setting off from my slightly downhill drive is always a bit of a jolt and a lurch.

    Before a long trip?

In case you haven't found it yet - ABRP and its corresponding phone app are good for planning your charging stops. It'll find routes with ultra-rapid charging stops, and if (when) you deviate from the plan, will adjust. And it can help you find lunch/whatever near chargers.

    Before a long trip?

The owner's manual has all of this. But frankly on a modern car, I let the sensors do the work. Even ICE. If the oil's low, the dash will warn you. My MG4 tyre pressure dipped to 2.3 in the cold, and the dash warned me. (2.5 is advised. 2.7 at the back if loaded)

    One Pedal Driving

I feel that when one-pedal-driving, a car ought to show the car behind what they'd see if you were braking conventionally. Shame if that's not what happens.

Test Drive when buying via Salary Sacrifice

It feels a bit cheeky, but I think it's probably something the manufacturer expects of the dealer. I must admit, I didn't do a test drive before going for salary sacrifice - I'm not all that discerning a driver anyway, and assumed that any new car will drive well; and I believed the reviews...

    Failed Gridserv/ABB charging in MG4

I hadn't noticed the lots-of-AC-chargers part. I think it's very positive that they've recognised that mode of use. It's the future!

    Charging limit at 80%?

I don't think there's any harm in draining below 20%. The system starts nagging you to recharge at 20%, I think because the whole industry is very very keen not to have scare stories of people running out and being stranded. (I gather all the brands nag and nag and nag, the lower you go, then...

    Failed Gridserv/ABB charging in MG4

Has anyone got any insight - links to articles maybe? - about what it takes to roll out rapid chargers, for example at an existing service station? I notice there's new BP Pulse hub going up at the NEC, - and it's right next to a pylon, I assume for good reason. If you picked an arbitrary...

    Mg4 tyre pressure

Google Bard (!) tells me: The indicator on the pump in the boot certainly isn't precise enough to tell 2.5 from 2.7.

    Should I power off

I read stuff about locking and unlocking distrusting charging, so I kept an eye out. But I haven't noticed any weirdness on my 23 Trophy. Public charging, I plug in and start while my wife gets our daughter out, opens and closes doors, locks whenever. I've set it charging, locked and left...

    Mg4 tyre pressure

It's in the manual. I grabbed the PDF from the MG website and put it in Google Drive so I can easily find it whenever.

    Charging *between* 80 and 95 percent ... ?

Good lord, if you plan to require a charge tomorrow, then absolutely take it to 100% today. That's what 100% is for.

    Charging *between* 80 and 95 percent ... ?

I'd be cautious about the reasoning behind this, the instinct is, as you've said, "I'm throwing away energy from my solar". But does taking it actually achieve anything? Would you benefit from charging to 100%? If it saves you from public charging on your next journey, then yes, of course. If...

Charge won't stop at 80 percent

Just checking whether by "the app" you mean MG iSmart? The car should stop accepting charge when it reaches the level it's been told. You can also set that level through the car's touchscreen. Just a theory, maybe you've set the limit in your charger's app. e.g. if it's an Ohme charger, the...

    BP pulse discount

With further discounts if you have an Octopus home tariff - 5% (Go) or 8% (Intelligent). OTOH, I've had an Electroverse card for a while, and never has the charger I've wanted to use been one of their networks.
