How quickly does your car fall asleep?

This was discussed here a year ago in MG ismart issues then again in April this year in MG4 ismart loses car while charging , in which I described the 'zombie state', which is woken up by unlocking the car with the remote key, and sitting in it. Lots of interesting stuff in both threads. As I...

Poor efficiency (or is it just the cold?)

Ok, mine's a Trophy, but I got a shock today. A week ago it was a warm day, and I drove the 37 miles to Gatwick airport, and used 13% of battery power, at about 4.6m/kwh. Today I returned home from the airport, doing the same 37 miles in reverse. I used 19% of battery power, at 3.2m/kwh. Why...

    Regenerative Braking

Very good point Steve, I think you are right - particularly as the 4 is not spectacularly aerodynamic.

    Regenerative Braking

Hi Mick, I see you had problems with the Quote function repeating itself. I have struggled with Quote myself, and tend to prefer Reply, but if you wish to respond to two different posts, you have to use Quote. Does anybody know if there is a tutorial to help users with these functions?

    Regenerative Braking

Given that converting gravity into momentum is (almost) 100% efficient, then doing this is more 'efficient' than regen. However, efficiency isn't everything - going too fast requires extra attention, concentration and skill. Regen is easier! And if there is a car in front of you going 70 which...

    Scheduled charging stops early

My Trophy will charge like this with scheduling on my PodPoint, and again, I doesn't matter when I plug it in. (However, I don't bother with this, as scheduled charging works fine on the car, provided the app is not used at all.. . )

Trophy owners with two tone roof. Did your roof come wrapped or was it painted?

Same on my orange Trophy. And thanks for the update

    Full beam

See this old thread for my post #38 with a photograph of the headlight unit . The inner adjutment plug is clearly visible. The 6mm allen key is in the outer plug for adjusting the dipped beam.

    Full beam

There are two hex recessed plugs on the back of each headlight unit. When I adjusted the dipped beam, I cranked up the outer plugs. I haven't touched the inner plugs, but I assume they are for main beam. Anybody tried this?

Motorway driving settings - including Tesla charging over 80%

Yes, i got something similar the only time I tried charging the Trophy at a Tesla Supercharger (Ruxley, Sidcup). It was so quick, I hardly had time to check the rate of charge, before it got o 80% and I started getting nannying notices telling me to move my car, to free the space for other...

Motorway driving settings - including Tesla charging over 80%

My experience charging my son's Tesla at a Supercharger is that the rate of charge starts dropping at 50%, and keeps on dropping thereafter. However, I understand that this drop off is controlled by the car, not by the Supercharger, so expect the MG to be different. Please let us know what...

    Home charging point

I schedule one hour for each 10% charge on my Trophy, using the PodPoint charger. It usually does a bit more than this, but it's a good rule of thumb. So tonight the car is at 43%, and I have scheduled 4 hours from 2 to 6am - this will get me to 80% comfortably, plus a bit of balancing.

    Charging speed query

How many other cars are charging on that circuit? On the free chargers outside my local Sainsbury's in Charlton I sometimes get 7kw, sometimes 3.5kw. I think this depends on how many other cars are charging at the same time - load spreading algorithm?

    Auto locking when walking away?

No, it doesn't, but if you have stopped somewhere quiet, you can hear the motors whirring as they auto-fold the wing mirrors. Horror stories are told of Teslas being stolen when the thief jumps in the car while it is still unlocked as the driver walks away. I do not find this plausible. My...

    Auto locking when walking away?

Yes, I always use the door handle button to lock. This is so automatic, that after I walk away, I sometimes wonder if I've locked it. Look back - if the mirrors are folded in, it's locked! PS: My son's Tesla M3 has auto locking - I don't like it, it makes me nervous, I want to check. (I'd...

    MG 4 traffic stop issue.

I've lost the post where somebody mentions you can turn off autohold by touching the brake. I had the chance to try this today, sitting in a traffic jam. When you stop, put on autohold using the brake. When the car in front creeps forward a couple of metres then stops again release autohold by...

    Home charging point

I installed a PodPoint last November for about £900 - no idea what it is now. It does what I want of it reliably, and for people who don't trust the MG4 overnight scheduling, the PodPoint app will do it for you. The colours of the lights displayed on the unit are usefu;l, and not intrusive - for...

Repair advice: plastic light bar section

As PristDean says, your plastic is shattered. I would trim the flaky bits off with a sharp knife, then fill the resulting dent with clear Araldite. I did something similar back in the day to repair a dinged foglight lens. - worked a treat. Put masking tape on the sound bits to keep the resin...

Trophy owners with two tone roof. Did your roof come wrapped or was it painted?

How much did they wrap - just the roof, or the top bit of the boot as well?
