    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

Seems to be a different assembly plant, N0 built in dec 2023 and N1 built in aug 2022 LSJWH4099XPN0xxxxx

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

It seems that MG ignores the ISO standard. The 10e position should be N (2022) instead of P (2023), showing the build year or the model year.

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

Maybe a good idea for all to mention the VIN code, except the last 5 digits, so your cars stays anonymous? If the gear box has changed, maybe MG changed the VIN code.

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

Is the manufacture date derived from the VINcode? I can't find on the internet how the MG4 VINcode is build up. I am quite sure that MG changed something inside the transmission box starting from date X. It seems to me this is the only way to find this date by comparing manufacture dates and y/n...

Its from an ICE automatic transmission, but MG probably has forgotten something like '210'

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

I agree with you Les, great job done by Macadoodle. But ... Why didn't came MG with this 'simple' and cheap solution? And why are not all cars from the first batch seem to have this leaking problem?

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

It should be interesting to compare the VINcode from a car with fluid leak and model year N, with a car that haven't the leak. When mg have changed the gearbox, there must be a change in the start digits I guess?

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

Model year. I believe when something important changes, a transmission box by example, some start digits in the VIN code must also change. In 2022 pos.10 is 'N'. An example of a Mitsubishi:

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

I don't know. If thats the case (the future will tell), then MG must have changed something inside the box I suppose

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

To find out, you must take a look inside the transmission box of the first batch and the newer ones. If 2023 models (with 'P' in position 10 of the VIN code), don't leak and have the original breather on it, I guess MG changed something inside the box.

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

Is possible but still there are cars leaking transmission fluid despite this lower level. For those cars there must be another cause.

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

Frustrating ... Less fluid, longer breather pipe didn't work and now another try with a new version of the breather pipe. Hopefully this one stops your leaking.

    With or without breather?

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

My 'highlights' in this forum (I don't have a MG4, but want to buy one as all hardware and some software problems are solved): There are MG4's with transmission fluid leaking from the breather on the transmission box It isn't variant specific Its happening in UK, Spain, Germany, French and ...

Disappointing Macadoodle ... 1mm for the air to escape, not too little?

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

My guess: the 2e/3e mg fluid leak 'solution' is just for the first produced cars the new produced cars (almost) have the redesigned gearbox (stopping new owners complaints has priority) afterthat a recall for cars with the 'old' gearbox to replace them with the new one
