    I love my MG4, but...

I sympathise with you. When I had my MG4 it was a fantastic car to drive but all the niggly things eventually made me sell jt and get an inferior EV but a better car an E-Golf. With the MG4 I eventually loathed that I had to turn LKA off every time I got in ( particularly sections of my...

My replacement for the MG4 - the E-Golf

Thanks, we already have a MK7 petrol golf that we have had for a few years and love it. fudge knows what they were thinking with the gimmicky interior of the mk8, give me proper knobs and buttons anyday.

Would you buy an MG 4 again?

You could always sell the MG4, stomach the loss and downgrade to a mx30. I sold mine recently and got offered a decent amount for it, I then “downgraded” to a E-golf that like the mx30 has less range than the MG4 but ultimately is the superior car and actually feels finished not a beta product...

so.. who misses their ICE car....

We have both a petrol and electric car in the household so best of both worlds really. I think one of the biggest problems with EV’s and I suppose newer models of all cars in general is getting rid of physical buttons for touch screen controls. This is something that I personally don’t want...

Would you buy an MG 4 again?

Agreed with you, if I had my £26,000 again at this moment in time I would buy a year old megane E, Cupra born or 2 year old Tesla model 3. But it’s all hindsight, the used EV market was a complete mess 1 year ago and the new MG4 seamed like a bargain compared to others plus it seamed like EV’s...

My replacement for the MG4 - the E-Golf

No better way to describe it to be honest. Completely not fit for purpose and beyond annoying having to dive into that sub menu to turn it off at the beginning of every journey !

My replacement for the MG4 - the E-Golf

Yep I know what you’re saying about the range, it’s fine for me but obviously would be lovely if it was more. The equipment one is a weird one with the e-golf as most things fancy were optional. Out of the 20 cars available through VW only the one I got had heated seats ! With the E-UP that...

My replacement for the MG4 - the E-Golf

So as some of you may know I had my MG4 since launch and it’s safe to say I had quite a few issues - *Gearbox leaking oil *Glovebox damaged *seat upholstery badly crinkled / constructed *Warped undertray *Rear taillight developing micro cracks and condensation *Embarrassing noisy air con...

    Drastic change for me

Funnily enough I now live in tut Yorkshire so suits me well ? Aye they have I believe, that doesn’t bother me too much. There are 10000’s of the standard petrol ups so getting hold of general spares shouldn’t be an issue and reselling it in a few years should prove fine. I’ve gone for an...

    Drastic change for me

I can only afford a 2019 early model which can have questionable build quality, so I’m gonna wait it out in my little VW E-up until the 2021 MIC versions come down to £20k. It doesn’t help that I have a kitchen refurb going off otherwise I would have borrrowed some money and got into a 2021...

    Drastic change for me

Thanks, I suppose what I’ve learnt is ideally never buy a car that is brand new model as you will be the Beta tester ( doesn’t seem to matter what brand - again all the issue vw had with the IDs ) Yeah agreed that the Tesla M2 will have competition, but Tesla are light years ahead with their...

    Drastic change for me

So after lots of debate my MG4 is gone, a combination of several trips to the garage ( oil leak, software, software, rear taillight, glove box lid ) and the development of the dashboard starting to bubble in spots has finished off the car for me. I’m also concerned that as rivals get cheaper...

Car Dead when using remote heating

Apologies all, I’ve been stupid. The car is indeed dead until you press the break pedal ( unsure of why it doesn’t wake up normally when you sit in the seat ) It’s been several months since I’ve used the remote heating function.

    MG4 Software Update Thread

Completely agree- Great fun car, software is shambles and each update seams to add only more issues ! I can’t afford to keep taking time off work and doing the hour plus trip to the dealer for all these issues. The latest software update has ruined my car for me, it was applied at the service...

Car Dead when using remote heating

So the fudgewits at MG Barnsley updated the software on my MG4 SR despite me and the service manager clearing putting “do not update software” on the work pack. This has turned on LKA every time which is actually dangerous in my option and completely unusable. Another issue is now when I use...

Courtesy EV compared to the MG4

Top reply, just what I wanted to hear. Yeah I read about the coolant crystallising issue / recall, so will make sure that’s been done / will be done. I’ve got a test drive in one tonight so will see how I get on.

Courtesy EV compared to the MG4

I drove the following EV’s on test drives - Niro EV - seamed very capable, but didn’t like the look of the car and felt it was a “old persons” car Ioniq 5 - this was the car I had my heart set on, super cool looks ( in my opinion ) but the interior / switchgear felt very low rent for the...

Courtesy EV compared to the MG4

Funnily enough I’m looking at “downgrading” my mg4 and getting into a cheap one of these ( to get £7k ish back into my bank account ) I like the MG4 especially the way it drives. but I’m concerned about how quick some EV’s are depreciating ( such as corsa’s, MG5’s etc ) I’m not expecting the...

Best All Season Tyres for MG4

I wouldn’t touch hankooks, the ones fitted to my new (at the time ) merc a250 were the worst tyre I have experienced in years, just no grip and wore extremely quickly.

    MG4 Depreciation

Appreciate the comment, back when i bought the MG4 the used EV market was a mess and the car was a fair price for a brand new EV. I took a realistic guess ( based on MG’s own GFV and normal market conditions ) that the car would be worth £16k at 3 years old which I was okay with ( and this...
