    First Multicharge Journey

The range ABRP has used equates to around 160 miles which in summer sounds safely conservative. The stop gaps look about right to give you enough reserve if an alternative charger is needed. However the time allocated to recharge is very optimistic and I would allow a further few minutes to each...

    EVHS Grant Payment

I had a BP Chargemaster 7kW installed last September costing £599 after the grant which BP claimed. In 2017 the cost for a dumb charger (looks physically identical) was £395 after the government grant of £500 then. The Chargevision App associated with the newer smart charger appears to work...

    Insurance ?

£249 which is 6.9% cheaper than the BMWi3 my ZS replaced last September. This is with Churchill who I have been with for a number of years. 12,000 miles, wife, full NCB, legal assistance, no modifications, south coast, private driveway. The BMW had factory fitted privacy glass to the rear...

    Rapid Charging Speeds

Yes I have a graph obtained from FASTNED that shows charging rate for MG ZS at 75kWh from 17% SoC dropping to 50kWh at ~47% down to ~37kWh at 50% SoC then remains at that to 80% where it plummets to 15kWh. I found that 21/10/20 so not sure if that is still the case. I will try and find it again...

    Which charger? Experiences?

BP Chargemaster fit a voltage monitoring device in lieu of an earth rod at no extra cost. The BP unit serves my needs but I think their Chargevision App is not the best for controlled charging so I wouldn't necessarily recommend them. Others on this forum will be able to help I'm sure. Ohme...

    Rapid Charging Speeds

I've never had higher than 36kWh rate so far but only tried during lower winter temperatures. Even after a 50+mile run and down to 20-25% SoC I was expecting higher although the ambient temperature was ~2 degree C. I am hoping to do some trials when temperatures stay in the teens or above and...

Today’s MG ZS EV Road Trip - 4.8 Miles Per KWh (Smashed WLTP)

Yes I tried to make it as "normal" as possible so all default settings and HVAC ON but a neutral setting which was comfortable for me. I wanted it to be realistic so I can just relax and enjoy the car just like jumping into any car and driving from A to B. BMS update can wait until September...

Today’s MG ZS EV Road Trip - 4.8 Miles Per KWh (Smashed WLTP)

Inspired by Marks’ WLTP range beater I completed a 3 day trial today to prove my driving style will achieve the plans I have for longer journeys later this year in the ZS. Starting with a full charge my target is to reach Milton Keynes comfortably knowing there are a multitude of Rapids to...

Today’s MG ZS EV Road Trip - 4.8 Miles Per KWh (Smashed WLTP)

If the power needle goes over 20% I get a severe pain in my right leg which makes me lift off the accelerator lol.

Today’s MG ZS EV Road Trip - 4.8 Miles Per KWh (Smashed WLTP)

Great figures Mark. And that is realistic driving too at 60-65 on dual carriageways which is a good average (especially for the M25 car park lol). I see from your Rapid charge you managed an average rate of 40kWh starting at ~28% which is promising. Presumably the ambient temperature was in the...

BP Chargemaster - Timed Charging issues

Hi Angus & Stevee. I have set up the WebApp with a schedule for 20 hours a day, every day and charge as required. This has enabled me to monitor the communication between server and charger. They appear to "talk" every 15 minutes as the current charge shows the SoC at 15 minute intervals on the...

What car did you replace with your MG?

My ZS replaced a BMW i3 94aH I had for nearly 4 years and 28000 miles. I miss the one pedal driving and climate control/pre-conditioning but that’s about all. I was attracted to the MG by the price and range initially. After test driving the ZS I found the visibility much better, the ride...

BP Chargemaster - Timed Charging issues

Hi Angus et al. I can now confirm my ZS does not respond to timed charging on BP Chargemaster 7kWh charge vision. It does not AC charge with doors unlocked either so I guess that falls into line with your findings that it needs an update. I'm not fussed for either timed charging or doors...

MG ZS EV hire cars ! Excellent!!!

I was fortunate to have a very relaxed dealer who let me take the car for a couple of hours and drive where I liked. On returning I said I needed to see what the car would be like night time driving and asked to keep the car from Saturday afternoon to Monday morning. Only proviso was that I had...

    Ending Rapid Charge

I agree it's BP problem but I'm thinking of charger etiquette from a user point of view. We need to help each other and not create unnecessary problems. As Jocko says the next user could be really desperate.

    Ending Rapid Charge

That means the next user will need to phone the support line to get the unit re-booted. Much easier for everybody to phone BP as Nick did and get them to stop the charge. On the odd occasion I have had to phone BP to start the charger and then stop it there has been no cost for the kWh used.

BP Chargemaster - Timed Charging issues

Hi Graham et al. I had a BP Chargemaster "smart" 7kW charger installed last September but never bothered with the app for timed charging until I saw this thread last month. Since mid March the Chargevision scheduling appears to be functioning satisfactorily with my sons Honda e on a daily basis...

Rapid Charging - What speeds are you getting?

I have never got more than 36kWh rate even with ambient temperature around 18C after a 25 mile run and down to 26% SoC. These are Rapid chargepoint's that I know have charged other cars at 45kWh rate on several occasions. I am waiting for the warmer weather to see if there is any increase. If...

    VIN decode

There was a thread about 4 or 5 months ago trying to decipher the VIN. I don't think a date of manufacture could be determined from what I remember.

Tip to get your most reliable mileage on the day.

But if you normally drive like a hooligan that won't give you a "reliable" estimate of your predicted range surely? Not that I do drive like one. I suspect I'm very similar to your style of efficient driving in which case it is likely to underestimate your range if it's not taking historical...
