Charging at a rate of 75kWh would only happen (if you are lucky) if the SoC is very low and even then would tail off by 20% SoC to about 47% where it would be around 37kWh until the cliff edge at 80% SoC and then down to 15kWh if you continued beyond 80%. Figures based on ZS and assuming the 5...
BP Polar Pulse RFID costs £7.85/month but you only pay half price (if not free) per kWh on RAPID. Their LIVE Map is not particularly accurate and I've heard the App is very hit and miss.
I find the RFID very convenient, quick and reliable to connect. Pre-Covid I was averaging about 14p/kWh for...
I like the look of the Thinkware camera. Seriously thinking of replacing my old Nextbase 412GW with a front and rear Thinkware setup. You've converted me.
Stuart. Your mileage figures for the journey were very impressive considering your motorway speeds. Wish the MG was as efficient.
Larger rims usually have reduced range according to other manufacturers specifications on their options list they state the range according to tyre size.
In the warmer weather even at lower SOC the most I have ever had is a rate of 35kWh which I was led to believe could be as high as 76kWh for a short time at 17% SOC gradually dropping to 37kWh by 60% SOC to 80% then a cliff edge drop to about 15kWh.
Realistically you will not drop to 0% before re-charging (unless you arrive on the back of a breakdown truck). It is more likely to be around 20% so up to 80% will be around 26kWh at most which is well within an hour on a Rapid charger even in cold weather.
Mark. Do you find the ride is on the harsh side with tyre pressures at 38psi? Mine are a bit lower than that (2.2bar) which I find very comfortable and am loathe to increase unless it is going to make a big difference in range.
When I first got the ZS in September last year I compared the mileage travelled to the reduction in the GOM say every 10 miles or so to monitor how accurate it may be. I also noted each division on the fuel gauge was around 22 miles before dropping to the next. In the warmer weather I was...
I had 4 years of side access and it wasn't always easy to position the car so the tethered cables at Rapid chargers would reach especially now with Ultra chargers extra heavy duty cable being also shorter. Purely from a connection point of view I find the front charge point much easier and...
I have always reversed into parking spaces when possible on the basis of safety and visibility. With a front charge point that is not always practical. I think the cross traffic alert is a fantastic feature and well done to MG for including it as standard.
The 40A RCBO + enclosure to negate the need for an earthing rod sounds like my BP Pulse installation. The enclosure also contains a relay that I can hear clunking in and out at random times throughout the day. I believe this relay can be controlled with a suitable app to defer charging times if...
Just a bit curious as to why tweak the maximum voltage down to 450v from 455v to improve longevity of the battery pack? Do MG have doubts whether the usable life of the pack will extend throughout the warranty period? If so what happens to those that are still on the BMS version that charges to...
I did a 760 mile round trip from the south coast to Hartlepool and back last year and found plenty of choice in Rapid chargers on the M1/A1 corridor. I stopped every 70-80 miles or so at Holiday Inns or Beefeaters etc for comfort breaks and refreshment. Plan using Zap-Map for suitable stops with...
I have a 100 amp supply fuse. BP Pulse installed a 2nd 7kWh wall box last year saying I just crept within the maximum limit. Like you I have the usual white goods including 2 x 32 amp cooker points and the original 7kWh wall box installed about 5 years ago. I don't have a power shower point...
In Zap-Map a previous user complained of that station charge point of being a bit slow. I always find it useful to check the chat for a particular charger before I rely on using it.
The BMW i3 does not creep and so any brake is not needed unless on a steeper incline. That is one thing I miss with the MG but then I started using autohold which seems to do the trick. Now I have found out it keeps the brake lights lit I may start using Neutral. Does anybody know why the MG creeps?
Lol. I know how you feel. I regard my style as analogue i.e. gently increasing and decreasing as predicted by traffic conditions. SWMBO is digital i.e either on or off with hard acceleration or heavy braking and nothing in between.
I like your figures Mark and thanks for the detailed log of your journey today. It gives me great confidence in the GOM as it appears to initially base the range on your accumulated m/kWh but adapts to reality and re-adjusts as your journey progresses using your actual m/kWh.
With your...
