Has anyone noticed the odd prrring sound as you drive along in the MGZS? It only lasts for a very short time and sounds a bit like a zip being used. Could it be some sort of relay? It can happen several times during a journey. It is not intrusive or worrying but I am curious as to what it is.
This is perfectly normal on all cars with metal disc brakes. Heavy braking will remove it. The reason that you may be more aware of it on your MG EV is that the KERS system does not apply the brakes and slows the vehicle by electrical regeneration. Therefore the surface corrosion is not polished...
I have tried to use cruise control and agree that it is inconsistent. The reason has been explained already in that it matches the speed of the car in front and tries to anticipate that if other overtaking cars cut in. If you use MG pilot in traffic, the degree if braking is very fierce. You...
There seems to be quite a difference in the way that the MG5 and the ZS have been set up. As far as I can tell from reading various posts. MG5 brake lights do not come on when KERS is activated. They do on the ZS under KERS 3. Is this because there is less braking or regen on the MG5?
There is...
The service manager from my Dealer, F G Barnes in Canterbury, refused to do the BMS upgrade when my car went in for its first service in Feb this year. Had the Comfort 2 upgrade done, paid for and refunded by fitting self supplied Dashcams FOC. Maybe that is why. I regularly get 177 miles...
My wife and I prefer to drive the MGZSEV Exclusive over our Mercedes 220. All the points made above are valid. Fun and fast to drive. Economical in cost per mile, no road tax, inexpensive servicing. Hardly any wear on brakes if you think ahead and let KERS slow the car. Condensation does occur...
When using cruise control there is no KERS, so you lose any regeneration on the downhill stretches. As others have said, if you want maximum efficiency, not to say safety. You drive rather than let the car do it. That's not to say that CC or ACC isn't useful on occasion,
"Coasting" in neutral is dangerous and pointless. If you are on a long straight level patch with no accelerator input needed, you are not using any electricity and if you set it on KERS1 you will still benefit from some engine braking and battery regeneration. I would strongly counsel against...
No problems with EO Mini Pro.There is a phone APP which means you can switch it on and off or pre program it as you need it. If you want to make your charger available to all, this can be done via various sites e.g. Zap-Map.(I haven’t done this).
I have EO Mini Pro via EDF. With this you can preprogram the charge times so that you can make most use of whatever tariff you choose. I have done a lot of research and there is very little difference between tariffs and companies. Some have a smaller daily standing charge with more per KWh...
Don't know how you are driving it to only get 60 miles on Motorway. Even at the legal speed limit of 70, you should manage at least 120 miles from a full charge. AC does not seem to affect mileage by much. Heater about 10%. Driving style is different from ICE on any EV to achieve maximum range...
