    MG4 in Australia

It's a limited offer. Either end-September or end-October depending on which part of the website you believe  Oooh, I hadn't thought of including that in a pack, nice one. I use mine mostly for changing the blades on the mower. Wish that thing was electric but those units cost more than...

    MG4 in Australia

Good to know about the windscreen availability, thanks. It's something I had wondered about as driving on our roads there's always a fair chance of a stone being flipped up. Had it on all previous cars driven here. Also wondered about the system recalibration. I'm less concerned about local...

    MG Australia slashes MG4 price

Except that this is in conflict with the terms and conditions - see the page I posted a few posts up. Anyway I hope it is until end-October. MG Australia need to get their webshite sorted. Also it's "while stocks last" so there no guarantee it will still be on offer through to end-October...

    MG4 in Australia

Was there any issue getting a replacement? I haven't checked under mine for the rear tray bulge for quite a while, I probably should. If I find a bulge I'll book it in for the fix and I'd be tempted to get them to do firmware updates (even if it costs a bit) as I suspect that might help with a...

What's balancing? Do I need to do it?

It's not a matter of how I feel. I was just hoping to find a copy or link to this information as I cannot find it. Having something provided by MG we can view / link to would be helpful. Not everyone has been here for years while searching the forum isn't yielding anything. A search for...

What's balancing? Do I need to do it?

Anyone out there with a copy or reference? There is nothing about it on MG's website here. I get that, but it is always preferable to provide links when referring to something as being official recommendations. Frankly I'm not entirely sure I'd trust dealers. They have a habit of making stuff...

    Highest Efficiency Number You’ve Seen?

It's all done automagically. I have the SAIC API integration with Home Assistant. The SOC and range estimate data are included amongst dozens of data entities the system provides periodically. All stored in an influx database and charted using grafana. So with a little simple maths using the...

What's balancing? Do I need to do it?

Where are those official recommendations listed? While we have been using the term "balance" that's not used in the MG manual wrt to the drive battery, they use the term "equalisation". The user manual only recommends a monthly equalisation charge (p 294).

What's balancing? Do I need to do it?

It would seem to apply equally to either. It's entirely possible for people with LFP models to not hit 100% SOC for quite some time, e.g. if they use a granny charger they may not be able to achieve a full charge during off-peak tariff periods making the opportunity for a long slow full charge...

What's balancing? Do I need to do it?

If the car really needs it, it will let you know. Else if you are already typically AC charging to 100% on a semi regular basis then it will look after itself, nothing to think about. Normally balancing is something it'll need to do if it hasn't been fully charged for quite some time and/or...

    Discharge limit (VtL)

My Essence 64 allows discharge setting adjustment down to 20%. Can see it in this vid I made of a discharge test (have timestamped video start): Can only assume either it's a limitation of your model or there is a fault.

The good thing about those slow traffic sections is the energy consumption in the EV is so low.

"mileage" disappointment or there's wrong/normal here?

Well they go on to quote the following economy rates from their stop/start low speed commutes, which are pretty decent: Converting my normalised range estimate into economy figures (kWh/100km), it looks like this: Air drag occurs at all velocities above zero and is a power function, not...

    Highest Efficiency Number You’ve Seen?

I designed a normalised range estimate chart which take the cars SOC and range remaining readings and refactors them to indicate the range if SOC was 100% (since 100% SOC only happens very occasionally). It's interesting to see the patterns after nearly six months of capturing the data...

I think you meant low range is tied to high average speed.

MG4 Review: new Carscanner Android Auto OBD app Test with OBDLink CX BLE adapter (also new on Carplay)

I have a custom page with just battery power and speed, which seemed to work OK. But since speed is already available, I'm more interested in dynamic data the car doesn't show, with drive battery power being the most obvious. I note from the data file I experimented on creating the virtual...

"mileage" disappointment or there's wrong/normal here?

Yes but that's an overall average. Highway consumption is higher. 17.9 kWh/100km reported by the car for highway driving in the heat with aircon doing the ton on a Summer's day here sounds perfectly normal to me. I typically see 17.5-18.5 on highway journeys. Anything outside that usually means...
