Wear on Front Tyres at 5500 miles

I try to avoid going diagonal even if the tyres are not directional. I have no evidence to confirm this and it could be nonsense but in my head it's better to keep them rotating the same direction where possible.

    MG5 Spare wheel kit

As far as I know many of the parts in an Octavia are VW Golf so it should fit. I remember one time parking my Octavia beside a mates Golf and the door cards and switches were identical.

Mismatch with %age and efficiency on MG5 Long range EV

I've had my PFL LR for almost a year and have yet to see an average greater than 4mi per kWh. My average is between 3.2 and 3.5. I rarely go over 65mph on motorway and on A roads I do 60 when I can but mostly 55 or less according to traffic.

Delay paying £190 car tax on EV until April 2026 (action needed before the end of March 2025)

Retaxing it this month is so easy that for the Fabia it would be daft not to, I did the same for my dauhters A Class Merc. As for the Octavia I don't think it will be changing but don't quote me on that.

Delay paying £190 car tax on EV until April 2026 (action needed before the end of March 2025)

I think this is commonly called tax avoidance which is perfectly legal and any sane sensible person will only pay the tax they are required to. Not to be confused with tax evasion which is illegal.

Delay paying £190 car tax on EV until April 2026 (action needed before the end of March 2025)

I originally retaxed my MG5 and daughters Merc A Class (diesel but also freeo_O) last month to be sure our beloved tax man didn't pull the plug a month early but retaxed it again on Monday with no issues. Since I'm paying a stupid amount of tax for other vehicles in the house (including over...

MG5 FL KERS button not working

The reason I am concerned about regen at full voltage is I recently enabled regen in my EV conversion and configured so that regen would stop if the voltage exceeded a certain value. I'm always very concerned to ensure the pack never exceeds 400V as with a 96S battery that equates to 4.17V per...

MG5 FL KERS button not working

You should never have regen if the battery is at 100%. To do so would damage the battery by overcharging it. This is completely normal for all EVs and if it did this before that was a bad thing not good, the upgrade will help protect your battery.

Delay paying £190 car tax on EV until April 2026 (action needed before the end of March 2025)

My daughter has a 2014 or 15 diesel Merc A Class that is free tax so it's not just EV's Edit, I just did the same for her and it worked. ;)

Delay paying £190 car tax on EV until April 2026 (action needed before the end of March 2025)

I just found this thread and decided to give it a go as I was concerned the HMRC might try to close the loophole in March (It's now the 24th Feb). I was planning to sorn it on the 28th Feb and tax it on the 1st March (I did this before with another car to get it taxed before MOT ran out) but...

    Annoying sat nav

Is it possible to use one Satnav on the display (like Waze) and another on the phone (Google Nav)? Mount the phone where you can see it. My old Android phone wouldn't connect to the car at all but my new one seems much better however I haven't tested it much yet. I've always used the phone as my...

    Quirks of the MG5

If you fully charge the car and reset the trip counter then the GOM will let you see what the car is. I can't remember the exact number but something like 230 miles or more means 62kWh. I don't know what a 53kWh car will show.

    Quirks of the MG5

I've found the digital speedo is spot on but the analogue one (which is stupidly difficult to read) is a little more optimistic, not by much but maybe by a few percent.

    Quirks of the MG5

    1. Happens to me sometimes, I guess I should have listed as one of the Quirks. Try it for a week or two and if it doesn't improve take it to your dealer. 2. What emmrecs said seems to make sense since if you do the maths of miles per kWh and miles remaining it never ads up to 62kWh 3. The...

    Quirks of the MG5

While I might moan about the quirks, as I've said earlier my old Merc C Class Estate had a few that were just as annoying. I was using the C Class for work and for several reasons I wanted an EV, but it had to be capable of 200 miles range, as I would not have time to charge during the day. It...

Paulie's MG5 upgrades blog, Wheels, Suspension, Foot rest, & much more!

When I saw your first plan I though it was great but after trying to live with nothing for a few days I wondered if you'd gone too far. My solution (rip out the polystyrene block and replace it with a smaller one) is fairly close but the carpet is still in the original position and pushing it...

Are ICE cars really cheaper than EVs ?

I would say if the belt has been replaced then the engine has probably already been damaged through oil starvation so the best advice is stay well away from any car with a wet belt. The issue is the belt does not break rather degrades over time releasing small bits of rubber that block the oil...

Are ICE cars really cheaper than EVs ?

At least one of these cars has a ticking time bomb under the bonnet called a wet belt (Timing belt runs in the oil)! Designed to last just over 100k miles before it grenades the engine but frequently going off prematurely at 60k and less. If you are ever in the market for a cheap runabout for...

Paulie's MG5 upgrades blog, Wheels, Suspension, Foot rest, & much more!

So unfortunately removing the lump of foam and pushing the carpet out of the way resulted in discomfort through lack of support. Who'd a thunk it? So today I cut a piece of foam similar in shape but a bit smaller and jammed it in behind the rubber foot rest in the carpet. I haven't tested it...
