I'm now doing this too... with the improved LKA update. Occasionally the car gets confused but it works as well as many other makes now. I'm conflicted about these systems, I see plenty of bad drivers with poor lane discipline who need this, at the same time such systems can never be perfect.

I agree it is counterintuitive and poor design. It should at a minimum lock out settings from being changed before the car is in READY state.

Yes, different battery chemistries and sizes have been used for different markets in the past, eg with the MG4. Part of the reason for price differentials.
