Hastings YouDrive cancelled my insurance citing harsh braking & acceleration

My daughter has Hstyings insurance with a black box as it was the cheapest option after she passed her test. The score is cumalative so if you are reguarly braking and accelerating harshly it will give you a lower score. It measures other factors like sharp cornering, mobile phone use, and...

Can MG4 cars have fog lights?

KC Daylighters and Cibie's are great. However technology moves on, and as recently proved to me by a friend, LASER Led light bars are incredible. Especially their Rally spec lights. See their website here: Lazerlamps: Superior LED Driving Lights - Made In UK These are so bright I thought I...

Spotted my first Cyberster on the road

Spotted my first Cyberster actually on the road today on my way home from work. I've seen one previously at local MG dealership, but this was first one in the wild. It was finished in a light beige/Old English White colour,. Owners had the roof down enjoying the sunshine. It looked bigger...

    Road tripping in the MG4

You will only see charging rtate of 120kW from under 20% SOC up till about 60% SOC. After that, it will slow down, and get considerably slower after 80% SOC. Other things can affect rate of charge such as battery temperature. Don't expect this in winter unless preheated battery, or after a...

Public rapid charging prices trending down ?

Sainsburys chargers also down, 72p/kW instead of 75p/kW. Not much, but it's a start. Wish I'd known about the drop in price for Instavolt as there were several close to the Sainsburys I used while visiting family.

    Has Caliban had children?

Been down to the New Forest to see my folks. On the way there, during, and way back we spotted 9 other MG4s. 1 black one, 1 red one, and 7 blue ones. @Rolfe its seems Caliban has had many children, or maybe the dealers have had a lot of blue cars delivered to them?

    Air conditioning noise

Yes, that's usual. You won't hear it with an ICE car, but can with an EV. Some owners have reported especially noisy AC compressors, which was rectified with a change of oil in the compressor (some MG4s had wrong oil in compressor)

    Charging output

Depends on a number of factors. Charging rate can be altered in the car. 11kW charger would be 3 phase, are you using a 3 phase Type 2 cable? If not you'd only get one phase (so about 3kW). Profile says Trophy ER, which I believe still have the onboard 3 phase 11kW charger.

Anyone wash their car today? ?

Etching from bird poo can also be removed from wet sanding with a high grade paper, then polish, etc. Alternatively it can also be removed with a heat gun or hair dryer. YouTube has plenty of instructional videos on this.

There are Ionity chargers just off the Chippenham junction of M4, and more in Bristol just off M32 next to Ikea. You could use Electroverse with those

    Fast chargers M4 Wales

In your other post, I just mentioned the Tesla superchargers in Bristol that are open to all. There are 3 locations in total, with 2 at Cribbs Causeway close to M4/M5 interchange.

Tried a new polish today (EDIT: waxed my car for the first time!)

I used it on the glossy black plastic (rear corners) Comes up like a mirror. On the satin finish plastic trim and tyres I use Supaguard tire and trim dressing.

I should have kept that space saver from the Golf.

It is possible to change a tyre with tyre irons and a lot of elbow grease. Balancing can wait until you get back to civilisation. @Rolfe Sorry to hear of your ordeal, Absolutely useless service from them. Personally I use Greenflag. They use a network of local recovery companies, which know...
