If you’re sticking with Octopus it will have to be compatible with them. At the moment the car is not. I have a Rolec, which is not compatible ( it’s useless as a smart charger anyway!) . I charge using Octopus Agile which I find perfect for my needs.
I had to have the passenger door lock replaced as it would only open from the outside, my car is less than a year old. No problem getting the dealer to replace it.
I agree about the Rolec “ smart “ charger. I’ve never been able to get the app to work properly, got fed up trying to get it sorted so now only use the MG app which since the last update has worked well. I’ve had a few niggles with my Trophy long range ( 12v battery being one ) but love my car !
I’ve been shut out of my MG account, app. It won’t accept either of my new verification codes! Not ideal, as you can imagine, just as I’d been thinking the new upgraded app was so much more reliable ? . Anyone point me to the solution?
I don’t really understand what the function of “ battery heating” is ? I’ve read that if using a rapid charger ( in cold weather) you should preheat the battery to make it accept the charge easier/ quicker?? But would you not normally be using a rapid charge to top up on a journey when the...
As I only charge fairly infrequently and don’t have a compatible charger, I went with Octopus Agile. Suits me as I live alone and can plan to use very little at the peak times, generally between 4-7 . Wouldn’t suit everyone.
I had a journey of 157 miles this week. Went from 82% to around 10% ( 30 miles at any rate ) Barely made it home ?. Mix of motorway (70mph) and A roads at 60mph. Only had heating on occasionally but windscreen wipers for half the journey.
I had the same thing, the warnings started after I had to be rescued by the AA when it wouldn’t start. Taken to the garage where they charged the battery. The car continued to give the warning, back to garage, decided it was a sensor! The car was back into the garage overnight on 2 further...
I’m in a similar situation in that I don’t charge my EV very often. I don’t have a compatible EV charger and as you know the MG isn’t supported either. I’m on Octopus agile for electricity. It costs more at peak times between 4-7 , usually. I charge the car when the rate is low, often just a few...
Oh if only we had British manufactured Ev cars and batteries ?…. Still have to get the chips from China though. If my phone is listening to me I’m not worried about my car ?
Not the same area but Scotland all the same , and yes we do pay more for our energy. I have Octopus agile and charge when rate is cheaper, that can range from a few pence to the peak rate of around 33p My MGZS is not supported by Octopus, neither is my charger so I can only get 4 hours at 12p...
No it’s a Rolec charger.7kw I’m pretty sure it’s not been as slow as this in the past . I had it repaired last week as a part had “ burnt out “ I wondered if it just wasn’t working properly ?I’m on Octopus Agile so charge when cheaper , that’s why it was on 2x4hr charges.
I put a post up yesterday but received no replies. It’s not strictly an MGZS problem but when charging my car yesterday the i Smart app was showing the charge power as 1.7 kw . Over the weekend I charged the car for a total of 10 hours ( not all at the same time) and the battery had only risen...
